ASCENSION DAYASCENSION DAYASCENSION DAYASCENSION DAY This was written for the Sunday after Ascension., before the RCL had been authorized, and when ASB suggested a psalm for the Eucharist but provided no responses. Psalm 24 was given for the Sunday after Ascension Day in Year 1 and Psalm 8 for the feast itself.. Note the pointing of the last line of the last two stanzas, where the penultimate accent falls on the note rising after the recitation. The refrain Alleluia is set to a traditional plainsong melody.
