Science BackgroundThere are many different kinds of habitats, each inhabited by different kinds of organisms. Organisms often compete with one another for resources such as water, food, or space in a habitat. For example, predators such as coyotes, hawks, and snakes may compete for prey food resources such as rabbits and mice.
