Dear Friends and Members of Hope,

Grace, mercy, and peace to you in Christ. Amen.

I am writing this letter to inform you that I will be retiring on August 31. My last Sunday with you will be August 25.

I have been ifll consultation with Bishop Mark Holmerud of our Sierra Pacific Synod, and the ELCA's Portico Benefit Services, as to the specific timing and logistics of my decision. Bishop Holmerud and Hope Congregational President, Eric Wheeler, have been in conversation as well. The many questions that inevitably arise during a time of pastoral transition will be answered as the process unfolds.

Cheryl and I have enjoyed our four years with you and have been blessed in my time as your Lead Pastor. We will always treasure the friendships we have formed and the memories we have made, during the time we spent with you, "Extending Hope in Jesus."

We are excited for the next chapter of life that God -has in store for us, as we move to Arizona and our friends and family there. We will keep Hope Lutheran Church in our prayers as the Holy Spirit leads you into the future of your mission and ministry. May God bless you and keep you always!

Yours in Christ,

The Reverend Roger A. Thompson, Lead Pastor CC: Bishop Mark Holmerud, Sierra Pacific Synod
