Excellence Exemplar for 91242 2016 Sample Assessment Total Score 8Part Comment

aThe response shows very good understanding of how the indicators of social development show development in the chosen case studies. The explanation is in depth and the concept of accessibility (access) is used.

bA natural factor (rainfall) and a cultural factor (political systems) are used with good depth and are linked well to the outcomes of development (backed up with statistics and geographic terminology).

c

Two different strategies are selected that are linked in depth to the change in development in named areas of the same country. How the strategy has impacted on development is explained well, with good use of geographic terminology throughout. The key geographic concepts of both accessibility and change are used.

Comment on Holistic Judgement

Overall, this paper is a good example of Excellence as there is good depth to the responses and case study information is used well throughout. The geographic concepts are used in more than one instance.
