Brunel has spent £250 million redeveloping the campus, and has invested £35 million for the future. Direct transfer from LIBT to Brunel UniversityAt LIBT we are proud of our association with Brunel University and work closely with the University’s academic schools to ensure that when you successfully complete the LIBT portion of your studies, you are ready to progress onto subsequent years at Brunel and eventually graduate with a good degree. The results of students that have studied at LIBT before you are a testament to the success of the pathway with 95% passing their course.
LocationLIBT is located on the campus of Brunel University which is based in Uxbridge, West London roughly 30 minutes to central London by bus plus train, or 50 minutes by underground, to central London. This allows you to have the best of both worlds – the hustle and bustle of London and the countryside of the Home Counties with sights at Windsor, Hampton Court and Henley.
Since its launch in 2003, LIBT has earned the reputation of being
one of Britain’s leading University pathway providers, helping
students to gain access to university as the first step towards
a successful future. Once you have successfully completed the
LIBT part of your studies (if studying the Diploma and Pre-Master
courses), you will be able to progress onto your chosen second
year or Masters programme at Brunel University.
You will study a university designed programme, taught mainly by
Brunel University staff on the Brunel campus. The courses meet
the requirements of the University curricula and therefore offer a
smooth transfer onto your chosen programme of study at Brunel.
Graduate from a world class British University In the latest Government Research Assessment Exercise, 82% of the University's research was rated as of international standing. What is more, Brunel University has one of the highest proportions of 'early career researchers' in higher education – testament to the University's commitment to research intensity throughout its academic staff. All students benefit from this focus on research. As a result graduates are in demand and continue to hold prestigious positions at companies such as Nokia, Virgin Atlantic and Mclaren F1. Those that studied at the university include five Members of Parliament, many household names in the performance and media industries with even more Olympic champions and sporting world record holders.
Flexibility Choosing to study at LIBT offers you the flexibility of starting your studies at 3 points in the year – January, May and September. This allows you to join the degree programme of choice ahead of other students who may choose the traditional UK academic entry system with degrees starting in September. Entry points for the Pre-Master are in March and July allowing you to join your Masters programme in September.

Value for moneyLIBT tuition fees are competitively priced compared to other similar UK institutions, providing an affordable quality education. In addition, living in Uxbridge allows you to live in London without having to incur the expense of central London – letting your money go further.
Small class sizesLIBT prides itself on having small classes which average 20 students through all programmes. This lets you familiarize yourself with the university environment at Foundation or Diploma level before joining the larger classes at University.
Easy to applyWhen applying to study at LIBT, you do not need to go through the UCAS system and can submit your application directly to us for processing. Your offer letter will cover the duration of your studies at LIBT.

I like Uxbridge as it is small and not too busy. People here are friendlier than those in central London. I am glad I am not in central London as there would be too many distractions – I study during the week anyway and when I want to go out I can get to central London easily. LIBT is located in Uxbridge, in West London. It is a 20 minute walk
from the campus or a short bus ride away and boasts over 300
shops, a multiplex cinema and 2 shopping malls. A recent addition
is Liquid/Envy – a large £3 million nightclub which runs several
popular student nights. You will find it a lively, multicultural area with
many local opportunities for part-time jobs and work placements.
Uxbridge is located on 2 London Underground lines – the
Metropolitan and Piccadilly which both take you to the centre of
London. It is also possible to get to Paddington in 20 minutes from
West Drayton station which is just 7 minutes from campus.

Some universities have halls that aren’t as good as ours – for example there are some halls where people share a room whereas at Brunel you get your own room which I prefer! First class accommodationChoosing where to stay when you study overseas is almost as
important as the course itself and here at LIBT we try and make
this as hassle-free as possible. Here is how:
High quality, modern halls of residence • – many with en suite bathrooms
All halls are on campus so • you are never more than 10 minutes away from the teaching, sporting and social facilities
Free network connection in every • room, with internet access
Halls are self-catering and have single • rooms (so no need to share a room)
A dedicated Housing Office to help • you find quality accommodation if you choose to live off-campus
A £48 million accommodation redevelopment programme ensures that you will be able to stay in some of the highest quality, most modern accommodation available in the UK – all situated on campus.
There are over 4,500 rooms with more than three-quarters being en suite. Standard rooms have their own wash basins and vanity unit with a shared bathroom and kitchen. En suite rooms have their own bathroom with shared use of the kitchen. All rooms are furnished and include bedding and linen which is cleaned once a week.
All rooms are self-catering which allows you to decide when, where and what you eat. There is a campus refectory in the centre of campus for those wishing to buy breakfast, lunch and dinner.
On campus accommodation rents are cheaper than those you will find on other campuses across the country – especially in London and the South East. Your rent lease will be for 36 weeks (including the Christmas and Easter breaks) and includes all utility bills.

Renting in the private sectorPrivate landlords whose accommodation meets our requirements in terms of both price and quality can register their properties with Brunel University accommodation service. A range of different kinds of properties are usually available to students. Renting a room in the Uxbridge area costs between £60 - £90 per week with bills such as electricity and water to be paid as well.
I would recommend coming to LIBT because you get to mix with students from other countries. My room mates are from other countries such as Nepal and Germany so I get to learn about their culture and tell them about mine. We often play cards together in the kitchen and get along very well. Support for youOrientation week The orientation programme is held during the week before the start of term to give you a chance to settle in, make friends, meet LIBT staff, ask any questions you may have and get to know Brunel and Uxbridge.
What happens at Orientation? Information on accommodation, immigration, health, finance, travel and social activities will be included in the programme and sessions will also cover adapting to studying in the UK and information about English culture. You'll also get the opportunity to select and enroll on courses, obtain a student ID card and create a timetable.
Student Support OfficerWe have a dedicated Student Support Officer who is on hand to assist you with anything that will help you adjust to life at LIBT. She is also able to provide ongoing support whilst you study and is happy to help and advise students with any difficulty or query that might arise – no matter how small. In the past these have included accommodation concerns, visa renewals and opening bank accounts.
Job Shop and Careers ServiceThis service, based in the heart of the campus assists students with finding part-time work as well as advertising positions that may arise for vacation jobs. You will also have access to specialist careers advisers who will give you guidance throughout your course and for 2 years after you graduate from Brunel. The university is proud to be one of only a few in the UK with a dedicated International Careers Advisor.
Muslim prayer room and ChaplaincyThe LIBT and Brunel community has students and staff representing a range of cultural and religious backgrounds. Facilities include a Muslim prayer room and a Chaplaincy Centre which can also be used by different groups for prayer, meetings or quiet reflection. There are also many religious and spiritual groups run by students through the Students’ Union.
Student Mentor ProgrammeAt LIBT, existing students are assigned as mentors to help new students settle in to life and study in the UK. They are able to help you with problems and obstacles they may have faced when they first arrived at LIBT. They are also often able to provide a student’s perspective of life on campus.

Medical CentreAs a full time student at LIBT you are entitled to free health care which can be provided at the University Medical Centre. The Centre is open through the year with a walk-in surgery each weekday during term time.
StoresYou can organise most of your day-to-day needs without leaving the campus. There is a bank, a pharmacy, and two general shops where you can buy groceries, newspapers, stationery – even top up your phone credit and travel card. The main refectory on campus also offers breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Sports Clubs and SocietiesLIBT is proud to have its own 20/20 cricket and football teams. As winner of the 2007 Navitas UK football cup; team sports can play an important part in your time at LIBT. You are welcome to join as many groups as you want at LIBT and Brunel University and you can even get into their day-to-day running. If your interests are not represented, you will receive support and advice to help you start your own group.

Admissions CriteriaGeneralThe Admissions Criteria for LIBT consists of two key elements:
1. Academic qualifications
2. English language level
LIBT will consider applicants for admission once an Application Form has been completed and submitted with evidence of qualifications and English ability. If the applicant is eligible for entry, then LIBT will provide verified LIBT admissions documentation as follows:
An offer of Admission for entry • to their chosen LIBT programme (indicating their expected 2nd year transfer to Brunel), from the LIBT Admissions Office.
Once the deposit payment has been • received by LIBT, a Visa Support Document (later to be replaced by a unique reference number), which you need to take with you, when you apply for your UK General Student Visa at your nearest British High Commission.
English Language Entrance RequirementsThe minimum acceptable English language levels for direct entry to the programmes are:
International Foundation Programme – IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent)
Diploma – IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent)/IELTS 5.5 for Information Systems and Computing programmes
Pre-Master Programme – IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent)
Applicants to LIBT will be required to provide certified evidence of their English language competency; such evidence must not be older than two years.
English Language Preparation
If you do not meet the minimum English language requirements for your programme, you may choose to enrol in the Brunel University English Language Programme to improve your English language proficiency.
LIBT offers ‘combined’ packages to students requiring English language preparation prior to entering their degree studies at LIBT and Brunel University.
Upon successful completion of the appropriate course at Brunel University, students are eligible to enter LIBT without any further English tests.

How to apply
LIBT is licensed by the UK Border Agency to enrol international students under Tier 4 of the Points Based System.
Applying to study in the UK can be a daunting process. In this
section we guide you through the way you apply to come and
study with us.
Step 1International students are to complete the attached Application form, or use the online Application form which can be found at www.libt.uk.com.
Students should ensure that they have read and understood the Conditions of Payment and Enrolment.
Step 2Certified copies of all academic qualifications including school reports and official examination certificates plus English language test results (if appropriate) and relevant employment documents must be provided. Please ensure that your current name is added to copies obtained under a former name and that certified translations accompany documents that are not in English.
Copies of documents may be certified by one of the following:
The official records department • of the institute that originally issued the documents.
A Justice of the Peace or Public Notary.•
Authorised LIBT representative.•
British overseas diplomatic mission • or British Council representative.
Students applying for exemptions should indicate this on the Application form and supply successfully completed subject or module outlines as evidence.
Step 3Send your completed Application form and certified copies of all your academic qualifications to either your agent, an LIBT contact or email to [email protected].
Step 4If your application is successful you will receive a PDF copy by email of your Letter
of Admission explaining the programme of study you have been offered (if you have applied with assistance from an agent, this will be sent by email to the agent). This letter will also hold details of the tuition fees payable and programme commencement dates. At this time you will also be sent an Acceptance of Admission form and an Accommodation Booking form.
Step 5In order to officially accept the offer of a place you must pay the tuition fees as stated on the Letter of Admission and complete and return the Acceptance of Admission form – this can be returned by fax or email, details on the reverse of this Brochure. The amount payable is usually one (1) semester’s tuition fees. If you wish to make a deposit payment for your accommodation or book for the airport pick-up service then please do so at this time as both services are limited to numbers.
Step 6We do not accept payments in cash in the LIBT office. If you pay by direct deposit or telegraphic transfer, you must provide LIBT with proof of payment (such as a receipt). Please quote your student number on the telegraphic transfer or direct debit deposit.

Conditions of enrolmentFees1. All fees, charges and accounts will be
payable in advance as determined by LIBT. Students will not be permitted to commence or continue their programme at the beginning of any semester until all outstanding fees, charges or accounts are paid.
2. Any payments not made by the due date will incur a late payment penalty of £200 and will accrue a further penalty of £50 per week until the full amount owing has been paid.
3. Fees are correct as at the time of printing. LIBT reserves the right to vary its fees at any time.
4. Where a student studies less than or more than a full semester load, the student will pay the current per module fee for each module undertaken. The minimum load in any semester will be 75% of a full-time load unless otherwise approved by LIBT.
5. Should it be necessary for a student to repeat a module, the full amount for that module will be charged.
6. Please note academic programmes are subject to approval.
Conditions1. The student is expected to attend all
classes and undertake all tests and examinations during a programme and abide by all rules and regulations of the College that are in force at any time, see College Policies and Regulations.
2. LIBT may, by written notice, vary conditions of enrolment as necessary to comply with any law, regulation or amendment thereof, of the Government of Great Britain.
3. The Contract between the Applicant and LIBT is governed by the laws of Great Britain.
4. In the event of circumstances requiring urgent medical care where it is not possible to contact the parent / guardian, LIBT is authorised, as a matter of urgency, to seek and provide appropriate medical care.
5. International students must meet the minimum English language proficiency requirement for entry into the course. English proficiency will be tested; if the test reveals that the English language skills are insufficient, the student will be required to include a bridging English module in the first semester of study (free of charge) or enrol in either a mixed programme or an intensive English course prior to the commencement of studies at the discretion of LIBT.
Attendance regulationsThe British system of Higher Education recognises that the ultimate responsibility for a student’s educational achievement lies with the student themselves. Moreover, as the vast majority of students in British Higher Education are over 18 years of age, they are recognised as adults and a considerable amount of freedom is extended to them so that they can regulate their own studies.
While LIBT (also known as the College) fully endorses the idea that students must take responsibility for their own learning, the College does have a minimum 85% Attendance Policy which aims to limit the number of those individuals who fall unnecessarily into bad habits of non-attendance or poor attendance and ensures that good study routines are established. This policy stipulates that successful progression is based on students maintaining an 85% attendance in all classes, and as such the policy is monitored closely. Students who do not comply will find that they will jeopardize their ability to pass module/s or their programme. LIBT reserves the right to terminate the candidature to an award of any student who has a poor attendance record.
LIBT recognises that there is a direct link between poor attendance and poor academic performance by individuals. The College also holds the view that students who fail to attend classes are letting themselves and their sponsors down. Similarly, because education is a social experience, they are letting their classmates down.
All students will be apprised of the Attendance Policy on arrival and will be required to sign off that they have read and understood its implications.
Refund policyCandidature1. For the purposes of the Refund Policy
a course is defined as one (1) semester of study in any programme of LIBT.
2. If an applicant accepts a place offered by LIBT and pays the tuition fees, it means a binding Contract is created between the student and LIBT.
3. Notification of cancellation/withdrawal from modules, withdrawal/deferral from a programme of study must be made in writing to the College Director/Principal of LIBT, see Deferment of Admission and Deferment from Studies in this document.
4. In the case of cancellation/withdrawal, the cancellation charge will be calculated as:
1. Full refund of deposit (minus any bank charges incurred) if visa application is refused.
2. 50% refund of deposit paid if cancellation is made eight (8) weeks or more before the start date and no visa application has been made.
3. No refund of deposit if cancellation is made less than eight (8) weeks prior to programme commencement or if no cancellation is made and the student fails to enrol by the stipulated deadline.
4. No refund of deposit once visa is issued.
5. Students who have their candidature to an award terminated by LIBT will not be entitled to any refund of fees paid, inclusive of any accommodation deposits, fees, levies or charges. Any fee refunds will be at the discretion of LIBT.
6. LIBT reserves the right not to offer a programme/module previously
made available at its own discretion. Where a student is unable to enrol in a similar programme/module at LIBT and the enrolment is cancelled then the appropriate fees for that programme/module will be refunded.
All applicants will be provided with an Acceptance of Offer of Admission Form, see www.libt.uk.com on payment of tuition fees and will be required to fill this in and forward to the LIBT Admissions Department.
Deferment of admissionIf a student wishes to defer their admission to the College until a later semester, they must apply in writing to the College Director/Principal of LIBT - see the Deferment of Admission Form on www.libt.uk.com or contact [email protected]
Deferral will only be granted for one (1) semester unless determined otherwise by the College. If deferment is approved there is a charge of £250 at which time LIBT will hold all fees already paid (at least one (1) semester’s fees must have been paid) until commencement of the required programme actually occurs. In the event the student subsequently cancels the deferment and withdraws instead, the date on which LIBT received written notification of the deferment will be considered the date of withdrawal for purposes of the College’s Refund Policy. Failure to enrol within one (1) semester of the original application will result in the forfeit of all prior monies paid to LIBT.
Deferment from Studies (Leave of Absence)If a student wishes to take a leave of absence from their programme they may apply in writing to the College Director/Principal of LIBT no later than two (2) weeks prior to the commencement of the following semester, see the Deferment/ Withdrawal from Studies Form, www.libt.uk.com or contact [email protected]
Students may be granted a leave of absence on certain grounds after the commencement of their second (2nd) semester. Students wishing to apply for a leave of absence after this time must seek an appointment with the College Director/Principal of LIBT. If granted, their place may be held but all tuition fees applicable to that semester will be forfeit.
A leave of absence will only be granted for one (1) semester unless determined otherwise by the College. If the absence/deferment is approved, LIBT will hold all fees already paid (at least one (1) semester’s tuition fees must have been paid) until re-commencement of the required programme actually occurs. In the event the student subsequently cancels the deferment and withdraws instead, the date on which LIBT received written notification of the leave of absence/deferment will be considered the date of withdrawal for purposes of the College’s Refund Policy. Failure to enrol within one (1) semester of the original application will result in the forfeit of all prior monies paid to LIBT.

Navitas bursary and scholarshipsNavitas bursaryNavitas offers financial support in the form of family bursaries. A bursary applies where two or more students from the same family study with a Navitas member institution.
The first family member can be studying with a Navitas member institution at the same time as other family members or may have previously studied with any Navitas member institution. For the purpose of this bursary, a family member is defined as a husband, wife, brother, sister, mother, father, son, daughter or stepchild.
The bursary is granted to the second and subsequent family members who study with a Navitas member institution. The bursary is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fee for one program only (ie. High School, Certificate IV, Foundation, Diploma, Bachelor degree or Master degree with a Navitas member institution) and is credited to the eligible student’s tuition fee account each semester (the amount being relevant to the number of units undertaken in that semester). The bursary does not apply to additional units or repeat units that may also be undertaken.
Please note:1. The Navitas bursary is not applicable to English
language programs or any component of an English language program offered by Navitas member institutions. Please contact the relevant Navitas member institution for more information.
2. The Navitas bursary applies to students studying at ACN, CIC, Curtin Sydney, Curtin Singapore, CRIC, Eynesbury, FIC, HIBT, ICM, ICWS, LIBT, Macquarie City Campus, MIBT, MIBT Indonesia, PIBT, QIBT, SAIBT and SIBT only.
Navitas academic merit scholarshipsNavitas is committed to helping students achieve their career goals by offering scholarships to outstanding students.
The scholarship applies to 50% of the tuition fee for a Navitas Diploma^ program at a Navitas college or one academic semester of undergraduate studies at ACN, Curtin Sydney, Curtin Singapore or Macquarie City Campus.
To be considered for the Navitas academic merit scholarship, students must:
1. Have achieved a minimum average of 70% in their high school final year grades. Students who have completed further studies, must have achieved a minimum average of 70% in the last 12 months of their most recent studies to be eligible. Non-academic subjects including physical education, religion and languages are not included in the assessment; and
2. Have achieved a minimum English language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent; and
3. Have a Letter of Offer from a Navitas college or Navitas operated university campus (must hold an UNCONDITIONAL OFFER by the application deadline); and
4. Be a new applicant (i.e. students who are currently studying with a Navitas member institution are not eligible).
NB. Additional factors such as educational disadvantage, membership of a specific equity group and/or significantly adverse personal circumstances may be taken into account where the committee must differentiate between equally qualified applicants. Students who are eligible to apply for a Navitas academic merit scholarship will be sent the scholarship application form with their Letter of Offer. ^ Diploma program may also be known or
