do not belong to God."

one who seeks it, and he is the judge. 51 I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my

word, he will never see death." 52 At this the Jews exclaimed, "Now we know

that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say

that if anyone keeps your word, he will never taste death.

He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?"

54 Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me.

Ephesians 6:17 (NIV)17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword

of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

1. Forever life.

1 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)3 What a God we have! And how fortunate we

are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the

dead, we've been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for,

4 including a future in heaven—and the future starts now!

2. The hope of salvation.

1 Thessalonians 5:8 (NIV)8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-

controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a

helmet.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NIV)3 For though we live in the world, we do not

wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the

weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive

every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

3. The Word. (Sword of the Spirit)

Romans 12:2 (NIV)2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of

this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able

to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Hebrews 4:12 (NIV)12 For the word of God is living and active.

Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts

and attitudes of the heart.

1 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful

for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

5 You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the

darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are

asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled.
