Lifestyle Guide
Greetings, Esplanade Residents! Along with the quieter and calmer days of summer come the numerous benefits of living in SW Florida on a year-round basis. Tee-times are not only plentiful, but can also be made at a number of the beautiful clubs in the area though our unique reciprocal program. Dinner reservations are also easily available, as are theatre and cinema tickets, and all types of excursions and outdoor activities. Take advantage of the summer season to try some new things, while enjoying more of your favorite activities! While we are enjoying the off-season, it’s still a busy time for us around the club, and this summer more than ever! With the Tiki Hut and Wellness Center projected to open later this year, there is more than enough to keep your management team on their toes as we plan for the operation of these new facilities while also preparing for the next season of activities and events. Keep an eye on our Facebook page to see current pictures of the progress on all our amenities. The pickle ball courts are painted, and we are only waiting to have the nets installed to make the courts available to the residents. Our new Bark Park was completed in early May, and opened for use later in the month, so be sure to take a moment to visit with your furry friends and utilize this beautiful facility! Production on the Wellness Center and Tiki Hut continues at a steady pace, with much of the work now being performed inside the building. Painting, tile installation, cabinets and finishing work are being performed presently, and all the work is on schedule. Around the interim golf shop you will see some changes as we begin staging for the next construction project, the permanent golf & tennis pro shop! In order to accommodate our golfers while working on the pro shop this summer, we need to re-route the cart path and bag drop area(s) away from the construction, so you will see some changes in how you get on and off the course in the weeks ahead! In closing, despite warmer temperatures and afternoon showers, we are still living the dream at Esplanade Golf & Country Club. Enjoy your summer, life is good in paradise!
Hope to see you soon… Todd Blanton GM [email protected] 239.851.4412

What’s the riddle for the ball in the middle?
When you’re crosscourt from the ball, meaning the ball is on the diagonal from you, you should be slightly behind your partner and just back behind the middle of the service box. You & your partner are NOT on the same parallel line in relation to the net. It’s your ultimate responsibility to cover the middle.
When the ball is directly in the middle of their court, you & your partner are on the same parallel, and either one of you can take the ball played down the middle. Most of the time, the player with their forehand in the middle will take responsibility.
When the ball is in front of you, you are closer to the net than your partner, and it’s your responsibility to show movement, either a fake poach, a fake poach and then a go, or a poach. ONLY poach if you are moving forward! It is not your responsibility to cover the middle, but if you have the opportunity, take it and be aggressive. Have fun and GOOD LUCK!
Well, the summer heat is upon us! With the summer warm-up comes Reciprocal season, along with those pesky afternoon thunderstorms. While the rain is welcomed to help raise our water tables, the storms always seem to show up when we’re playing our best rounds ever! Being that we are in the lightning capital of the world, please remember that there are too many good days to play golf and no need to have your day ruined by a lightning strike. Always use caution and know that if you hear thunder, lightning is also in the vicinity. With the summer months comes routine golf course maintenance. Below is a list of dates where the golf course and practice facilities will be closed.
June 6th through 10th – Golf Course Aerification July 11th through 15th – Golf Course Aerification September 12th through 14th – Golf Course Aerification
During each of the above listed Aerification dates, the golf course and all practice facilities will be closed. The Golf Shop will be open between the hours of 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM each day during the closure. Because the golf course will be closed, we have secured a healthy list of area clubs who will offer reciprocity to our members. This list is available on the club’s website at www.naplesesplanade.com and in hard copy form inside the Golf Shop. To take advantage of reciprocals, we ask that our members fill out a Reciprocal Request Form (also available on the website) and turn it in to Golf Shop staff up to 7 days in advance. Should you prefer to email your request, please be sure to include the following email addresses: [email protected] and [email protected]. This will ensure that your request is received in a timely manner, as during the summer months, even the Professional Staff gets to take a day off here and there (some summertime humor for you). Golf Shop staff will attempt to secure your reciprocal times as far in advance as the reciprocating club will allow. Please be as specific as possible when filling out your requests as staff will not vary from what is listed on your Request Form. To find out which course and tee time your group has booked, please call the Golf Shop at 239-494-8020 and a member of the Professional Staff will assist you. As the season comes to an end and we begin preparing the calendar for next season, please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any suggestions relating to how we can improve your golf experience here at Esplanade. Should you have any questions about any of the above or about any golf-related subjects, please contact me via email at [email protected] or in the Golf Shop at the number below. Golfingly, J.D. It’s that time of year again when the heat has us looking for ways to stay cool and safe from the sun. Our
cooling towels have started leaving the shelves again and the Hydro flasks are going fast. Be sure to
stop in the Pro Shop and stock up on some summer essentials. We now carry the FJ performance
sleeves, with a UPF of 50+ and they are a great way to stay cool and safe from the rays of the sun when
out doing any outdoor activity. Logoed youth caps from Under Armour have been a big hit and we are
introducing some youth Polo’s, for our younger residents, and those visiting grandchildren. If you can’t
find something for that special youngster in your life, remember we can special order.
I am sure everyone is as excited as we are with the opening of the Wellness Center and Tiki Bar
approaching. We have been busy choosing some new and exciting merchandise for our shelves and I
am looking forward to seeing some new faces browsing our Pro Shop.
Dear Esplanade Residents, It has been a very dry summer so far with some great cooler weather, not typical this time of year, but most welcoming over the humidity! The landscaping companies have been diligently making sure that the irrigation at the homes are running properly due to the dry summer we have had so far. You will begin to see some of the lawns showing stress, this is typical for this time of year, please do not be alarmed.
The wellness center is coming along beautifully and it is a joy to see the progress the construction crews have made so far. I hope everyone is excited to see this facility open by the beginning of next year! I am excited to report that the lakes are looking really good based on the low water levels we are experiencing. The invasive plants are very minimal and the amount of algae is low. They will continue to remove trash along the lake banks, if you do have any concerns with any of the lakes please feel free to contact me and I will follow up with the lake company on their next visit to the community.
If you are seasonal and leave during the summer months you are not permitted to put down your hurricane shutters while you are gone. There are rules in your governing documents pertaining to hurricane shutters and specify when you can and cannot use them. Please take some time to read through the Use Restrictions in your Documents to familiarize yourself with them and if you have any questions please let me know.
