Like the filament of a light globe glowing intensely, we know our Lights Up 2015 season shines the light on a year of rich

and varied performances. The 2015 selection has been carefully chosen to bring you extraordinary entertainment

and wonderful performances.

In 2015 we will explore and celebrate our connection to the land and history through performances that resonate with us as Australians. Matthew Ryan’s

new play Kelly dramatises the last night of the iconic bushranger in a gripping and tautly written piece. We are thrilled to include celebrated local musician

Shane Howard in an intimate concert performance of his new album, Deeper South. Australia Day written and directed by comic genius, Jonathan Biggins,

pokes fun at Australian traditions, local politics and sacred cows.

Miriam Margolyes, international star of stage and screen will grace our stage in her own flamboyant, theatrical celebration. Michael Veitch brings to life the heroics of the pilots of World War II in a moving and very personal account.

Amity Dry (best known from “The Block”) delights in her own musical creation Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life.

We continue the family fun with a special pyjama performance of The 26 Storey Tree House and the return of 360 Allstars the exciting, amped up

Urban Circus after rave reviews and sell out seasons in Europe and America.

We also welcome back some of our favourite performing arts companiesand artists - Australian Chamber Orchestra 2, Bell Shakespeare as well

as the delightful Bethany Simons and the irrepressibly comic Damian Callinan. The 2015 selection has been carefully picked especially to have something for

everyone and the chance to enjoy it right on your doorstep. Becomea subscriber in 2015 by choosing four or more shows from the seasonand enjoy the rewards – priority booking, cheaper tickets, VIP functions

and deferred payment.

The Lights Up 2015 season glows with fun, vibrancy and entertainment. We’re excited, and hope you will be part of it!

Special Pyjama Performance Tuesday March 24, 6.30pm - Lighthouse Theatre

Well, what are you waiting for? Come on up!

Yes, that’s right. Andy and Terry had such a ball with their crash-landingentry into the world of theatre with The 13-Storey Treehouse, they’re

back for more, 13 storeys more, in fact. And you’re invited!

You know what 13 more storeys means. More inventions – like the 78flavour ice-cream dispensing robot and the brain bamboozling Maze of Doom

(not to mention the self-inflating underpants) and more things to go wrong – not least of which is the very real possibility that the entire show is a completeand utter disaster. Will Andy and Terry push their friend Jill, to her absolute

limits? And who is this shady Hector Houtkop, with a really bad pirate accent? And what about all those pirates?

Adapted by award-winning playwright and author Richard Tulloch(The Book of Everything, Bananas in Pyjamas) The 26-Storey Treehouseis brought to you by the same cracker team that delivered the smash-hit

stage version of The 13-Storey Treehouse.

So what are you waiting for? You’ll laugh your head off!

Ned Kelly sits in his prison cell. Tomorrow he is going to hang. A wounded beast in a cage, defiant till the end. A priest enters to give him his last rites

and it is revealed to be Dan Kelly - Ned’s younger brother believed burnt todeath at Glenrowan. Dan is desperate and needs one last thing from his

older brother and Ned stands firmly against him.

History tells us that Dan and Ned never saw eye to eye and there is also myth that Dan escaped the fire and disappeared to Queensland. This makes for a brilliantly charged premise, explored beautifully on stage in 80 gripping minutes, weaving

Kelly fact, theory and myth while exploring masculinity, brotherhood and the dangerous dynamic of mateship.

The new Australian play, Kelly was written by young Queensland Playwright Matthew Ryan and boasts a brilliant cast of three of Brisbane’s finest actors - led

by the Matilda Award winning Steven Rooke who plays Ned Kelly in a powerhouse performance with humour, heart and depth.

flatlander, and exchange the hoop act for a Roue Cyr artist, and you get an exhilarating circus performance like nothing you have seen before!

And with live music from award-winning master musicians and “ringmasters”, Gene Peterson and Sam Perry, 360 ALLSTARS is as

aurally exciting as it is visually astounding.

Sex with Strangers

by Laura Eason Thursday June 24, 8pm - Lighthouse Theatre

A love story for the 21st century.

Trapped in a rural writer’s retreat by a snowstorm, serious writer turned professor, Olivia (Tottie Goldsmith) is settling down to write her second novel, which she

hopes will be more successful than her first. In from the snow walks Ethan (Samuel Johnson), a brash, handsome, highly successful, Generation Y blog writer with

aspirations of literary legitimacy. Olivia succumbs to his obvious charm and seemingly poetic soul. But can love really bloom between an old-school book

lover and a man whose publicity-generating exaggerated tell-all memoir “Sex with Strangers” chronicles his rambunctious sex-ploits on an internet blog?

First staged by Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre in 2011, and more recently at the STC and off-Broadway, this is story telling at its best. Dark, sexy and funny Sex with Strangers delves into the lives of two people equally capable of ambition, kindness and cruelty. Sex with Strangers makes timely and insightful observations about the

foibles of first impressions and about love and relationships in the digital age.

How far will Olivia and Ethan go to get what they want?

The township of Bodgy Creek has seen better days: The mill’s closed; the Tidy Town sign has fallen into the long grass and the weir is as dry as a spinster’s gusset. The

dying town is about to claim its next victim.

Unable to field even one full side, the footy club will either have to fold or mergewith their arch rivals - the Hudson’s Flat Cougars. But prodigal son coach TroyCarrington has other ideas; to save the club, he embarks on a plan to recruit

players from the Asylum Seekers Refuge Centre.

Will the new players cope with pre-season training while fasting for Ramadan? Damian tells the Roosters’ story through a character based narrative. Along the way you’ll meet

Sayyid, the AFL obsessed Afghani, Bull Barlow, the charismatic but bigoted Club President with the story held together by his cinematically inclined grandson, Neil.

The show earned Damian his 3rd Barry Award nomination at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and has been touring throughout the country ever since. The show is

currently in development to be adapted for the big screen with the backing of Screen NSW.

Everyone wants a piece of the party pie in this modern ripper of a comedy.

The country town of Coriole is getting ready for Australia Day – a timeto crack open a frothy, stick a snag on the barbie and celebrate what

it means to be a true blue Aussie.

The Australia Day committee is gearing up to put on the town’s biggest party – but they have a few issues of their own to sort out first. With everyone from the Greens to the local mayor to the CWA wanting a piece of the party pie, it’s proving hard yakka to work out what an Aussie celebration should look

like. Nothing is sacred as the national identity is put through the ringer in this thoroughly modern ripper of a comedy!

Will the day be fair dinkum after all? Or are there too manyroos loose in the community hall?

Written and directed by acclaimed playwright and Sydney TheatreCompany satirist Jonathan Biggins (The Wharf Revue), Australia Day

Anguish, passion and desperation collide in this tragic telling of Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark who is tormented by the impossibility of his dilemma, and

who remains one of theatre’s most fascinating characters.

Dark acts result in darker consequences. And there is little that’s darkerand more complicated than the act of revenge!

A family torn apart by murder, a son burdened with the truth and the taskof avenging his father and a country on the brink of war.

Damien Ryan, returning to Bell Shakespeare following the critically acclaimed Henry V in 2014, will deliver a new production of Hamlet, infused with the passion,

contemplation and emotion that Shakespeare’s compelling poetry cries out for. Josh McConville (Griffin Theatre Company’s The Boys and Sydney Theatre Company’s Mojo) and Matilda Ridgway (Sport For Jove’s A Doll’s House) will

delve into the depths of the complexity, violence, philosophical reflection, madness and maddening seduction of Hamlet.
