Principal’s Message
Extra-curricular Activities to recommence next
week
Last week I received the welcome news from the Department of
Education that some extra-curricular activities can recommence this
term and others can recommence next term. This week has been
spent collaborating with the various organisers to determine our new
procedures for each group. The main concern is around adult physical
distancing. For this reason, there are clear guidelines about drop off
and pick up from sessions. Parents/Carers will not be permitted to
attend sessions and must wait for their child out of the school
grounds. Each group will email you details of the new arrangements.
Additional hygiene measures will also be in place such as hand
sanitising or washing before and after sessions. Please follow all
instructions carefully as any breach could lead to the cancellation of
that activity. The following groups will commence next week:
All Bands
All String Ensembles
Music tutorials
Chess
Dance Troupes
Some of our external
providers who hire the Hall or
grounds outside of school
hours for dance, netball etc
have also elected to return
from next week and others
will return next term. They will contact you regarding start dates and
new protocols. Please adhere to these guidelines.
Sick Students should stay home – winter coughs
and colds are here
Thank you for keeping students at home who are showing symptoms
of cold or flu. If they are coughing or sneezing, they should not be at
school and will be sent home as per our Infection Control procedures.
Please continue to send COVID test results to the child’s class
teacher if you have your child tested. As we recommence some of our
extra-curricular activities it is vital that only students who are healthy
and well are at school participating in classes. Regular handwashing
and sanitising is still important and coughing and sneezing into an
elbow helps prevent the spread of illness. I appreciate your
cooperation.

Years 3-6 Mini-Assembly
Yesterday we acknowledged student achievement in our classrooms and rewarded students who have
been demonstrating the school ROAR expectations. Blue Assembly Awards and Silver and Gold awards
were presented.
After a long wait, Mr Elsley was able to present the Zone Swimming ribbons to some very excited
swimmers. 34 students impressively represented our school at the Zone Carnival and we placed FIRST
once again!!!! Congratulations to all participants for trying your best.
It’s A Boy!
Congratulations to Mrs Nicole Carters on the birth of her baby boy Billy
Harry Michael Carters. He weighed 3.75kg and is already charming his
sisters. Mrs Carters has also moved to Mudgee so we wish her well with her
new baby and new home. We thank her for many years of dedicated
teaching at Lindfield PS and for her care and commitment to the students in
her classes.

Year 6 Jerseys
There was great excitement late last week as the long awaited Year 6 jerseys arrived!
Yesterday the students were so excited they decided to turn their back on the
camera! Our thanks go to Jodie Stuart-Robinson who managed the ordering and
distribution of the wonderful jerseys. We are always so grateful for all our school
volunteers.
Kindergarten Enrolments 2021
We are now taking enrolments for Kindergarten 2021. Please contact the
Office for an Enrolment Form. More information regarding Information
Sessions and Orientation Days will be sent out in the coming weeks.
Dog on School Grounds
In recent times we have seen a marked increase in the number of dogs on school
premises. We understand that children want to see their pets as soon as they finish
school each day, however we must make sure that we keep all people on school
grounds safe at all times. Please be reminded that only working dogs are permitted
on school grounds. All other dogs should remain outside the school fences.
Keeping The School Informed
Please make sure that when any of your personal arrangements change, you let the Office know the
details. This includes when you move house, when parents become separated or divorced and when
pick-up or drop-off arrangements change. It is also important to inform class teachers and the school
executive when court orders are in place with your family.
As we are currently in the process of writing reports please inform the class teacher if you require more
than one copy of your child’s report.
Opportunity Class Application Window Open
The 2021 Year 5 opportunity class placement process was put
on hold in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation.
We now have a revised and simplified timeline for the OC
placement process to ensure that students and families can
have certainty about their placement as soon as possible.
The changes include:
Parents must apply between 9 June and 26 June 2020
Late applications cannot be accepted
A new test date - Wednesday 16 September 2020
To ensure fair and consistent assessment of students across
New South Wales, students will be offered places based only
on their test results this year – there will be no school assessment scores. There will also be no opportunity
for appeals given the tight timeframes.
We encourage you to continue to monitor the department’s website via:
https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5 to
remain up to date with information relating to opportunity classes.

Work on Display
Anaphylaxis at Lindfield Public School At Lindfield Public School in 2020, we have a small number of children who could have a potentially life
threatening allergic reaction. They are found across our school from Kindergarten to Year 6.
How can parents help these children?
Choose alternative sandwich spreads to peanut butter and Nutella. Inform your child that
these foods can trigger an anaphylactic reaction.
Reinforce the school’s NO FOOD SHARING message.
Please note, no students are allowed to bring
glass bottles to school for safety reason

Chess
Chess will restart next Friday with additional safety measures to be implemented. They
haven't been finalised and we will be in touch once we have the full procedures, but a few will include:
- Coaches to carry hand sanitiser and wipes;
- All children will have their hands sanitised on entry;
- Parents to pickup from Ginkgo playground, maintaining social distancing;
- Chess equipment to be cleaned after each session.
We will need parent helpers to assist with cleaning and the pickup processes - let us know if you are
available for that.
Thank you to the school for their support throughout these times.
