Presentation for LAUS Master Commercial Developer Industry Forum October 13th 2017
Project Overview
1. A new expanded passenger concourse with passenger amenities, retail and potential mixed use development
2. Reconfiguration of the “throat” (station entry tracks), elevation of the rail yard, new run-through tracks and new loop track
3. Accommodation of California HSR and Metro’s West Santa Ana Branch LRT
4. New environmental process (DEIS/DEIR)
Project Need - Why Do We Need Link US?
1. LA Union Station (LAUS) is approaching operational capacity2. Ridership to grow from 110,000 to 200,000 daily passenger trips by
20403. Current “stub-end” (dead end) tracks limit efficiency and station capacity4. Critical transportation needs due to increase in forecasted ridership
Project Benefits – What Will Link US Provide?
Board Approved – Alternative 2: 6 RR + 2 HSR Integrated Design, HSR & WSAB Phased Accommodation
ALTERNATIVE 2 OVERVIEW6 Regional Rail Run-Through Tracks2 HSR Run-Through Tracks(Integrated Design and Phased Construction)7 Platforms (1 Gold Line, 1 WSAB Line, 1 HSR, 4 Regional Rail)
Other Alternatives with 6+4 and 6+0 are being studied in the CEQA and NEPA environmental processes.
