NEW UPDATES RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Classes will begin during the first week of November. ALL classes will take place online the children will gather MONTHLY in the church (with social distancing). Special meetings for parents will take place in October. Given the crisis of the virus we will ask only $30 to pay for the book and technology material this year for the entire program. To enroll, families must be registered parishioners (since June 2020) and commit to attending a mass on Sunday or during the week as a family. If you are not a registered parishioner you will need to register AND to live in Elmhurst. At this time we are not able to take children from outside the parish.

ALL SOULS DAY On Monday, November 2 we will remember all our beloved dead. At these masses we will announce the names of our parishioners buried from the parish since last November 2. All Souls envelopes are now available at the entrance of the churches. You are invited to take one and write names of those who have died and would like to pray for them. Please the envelope in any of the collections next week. These envelopes will be placed on our altars November 2 and remain until the end of the month. ROSARY SOCIETY All members should have received an important email from Trina Melloy regarding our future gathering. If you did not- please reach out to a member of the society for more information or contact the parish office. EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Every Thursday after the 11:15 am UNTIL the 6:30 pm masses. Exposition will begin after 11:15 am with concluding benediction at 6 pm. Please join us in prayer! NOVENA OF THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL The Novena prayers to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal will be prayed every Monday immediately following the 11:15 am English mass. Please join us! **REMINDER** There is no obligation to attend mass on Sunday. You are encouraged to watch the mass from your

home. I do encourage you to do your best to attend mass once per week. Pick a day of the week

and attend with your family. Make it a holy moment for all of you.

Dear Friends, Our numbers at our weekend masses continues to grow. Our overflow crowds participate in the mass in our school gym and receive communion. We are doing everything possible to create a safe environment for all who enter. The governor’s office announced that we can have a 50% capacity in our church – while maintaining social distanc-ing and wearing masks. Maintaining a 6-foot distance from others not part of your family and wearing a mask at all times in church is non-negotiable. We have begun opening up more areas in the front of the church and hope to increase our capacity to 30 – 35% in the coming weeks. We now have about 50 volunteers assisting us at all our weekend masses. Their job is massive and can be stressful. Please be kind and polite…thank them for their service to our parish! If your child needs to receive the sacraments: baptism, communion, confirmation- register them in our program today: stbartselmhurst.org We now have 500 children in the program which begin next month. Our parish does not have the financial capacity to help every family living in Elmhurst to purchase food. If we could we would but we cannot. At this time we are assisting our registered and active parishioners. Please email us: your name, registration number (found on your parish envelopes) your address and phone. We can provide you with food vouchers to a local supermarket. Since the end of March we have given almost $16,000 in food vouchers to our registered parishioners. We hope to continue to assist! Would you like to donate?

NEED A LETTER FROM YOUR CHURCH? In order to give letters of recommendation, letters attesting to character, sponsor certificates, and other documents that may have legal or religious purposes, it is required that persons requesting those documents be registered and be active members of Saint Bartholomew Parish at least three months prior to your request. We can not provide any of these documents to people not registered in the parish.
