Quality Time Kids are flexible
and resilient and
in the shorter term will accept
us skimping on
them timewise.
In the longer
term, we can lose
many things we
can never get
back. If our lives
are overstuffed,
there is much that can be resched-
uled or elimi-
nated that is far
les valuable than
our children.
Tuesday
Time is Indis-pensable
The reality is that
time is absolutely
indispensable to
family life. It is the framework
around which all
other benefits are
built. It takes
time to discipline
well. It takes
time to catch a
teen in the mood
to talk--even to
us, even if it’s
because we’re the only ones around.
It takes time to
teach, pray, hug,
apologize.
Wednesday
Prayer for the Earth
All-powerful
God, you are
present in the
whole universe and in the
smallest of
your creatures.
You embrace
with your ten-
derness all that
exists. Pour
out upon us the
power of your
love, that we
may protect life and beauty.
Thursday
The Greatest Creation
In the eyes of
God, we are the
most beautiful
thing, the great-est, the best of
creation: even
the angels are
beneath us, we
are more than
the angels, as
we heard in the
Book of Psalms.
The Lord favors
us!
Friday
God Fills All Things
The universe unfolds
in God, who fills it
completely. Hence,
there is a mystical meaning to be found
in a leaf, in a moun-
tain trail, in a dew-
drop, in a poor per-
son’s face. The ideal
is not only to pass
from the exterior to
the interior to dis-
cover the action of
God in the soul, but
also to discover God in all things.
Saturday
God’s Loving Plan
Nature is usually
seen as a system
which can be
studied, under-stood and con-
trolled, whereas
creation can only
be understood as
a gift from the
outstretched hand
of the Father of
all, and as a real-
ity illuminated by
the love which
calls us together into universal
communion.
Sunday
A Gift to Be Shared
God does not only
give us life: he
gives us the earth,
he gives us all of creation. He does
not only give man
a partner and end-
less possibilities:
he also gives hu-
man beings a task.
He invites them to
be a part of his
creative work and
he says: Cultivate
It!

~ From the Pastor ~
“My heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.”
Romans 10:1 ______________________________________
My brothers and sisters in Christ,
On this 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we hear the famous words of Qoheleth
in the book of Ecclesiastes: “Vanity of vanities! All things are vanity!” These
words serve as a good reminder for us from time to time. It’s not always easy
for us to remember this truth as we enjoy the good things of this world, which
God has entrusted to us. But in the bigger picture of God’s greater plan, noth-
ing in this world, as good as it may be, can compare with what is of the great-
est worth - God’s Kingdom of Heaven. The words of Our Lord Jesus in to-
day’s Gospel also reinforce this supremely important truth!
We were reminded of these words this past week through yet another heinous
terrorist attack in France, which included the tragic death of Fr. Jacques
Hamel. As you have probably seen in the news, on Tuesday morning of this
past week, we learned that while filling in for the Pastor who was away and
offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at a Parish near Rouen, France, 85 year
old Fr. Hamel and those at Mass with him were viciously attacked by two Isis
Jihadists. Of course, traditionally, those who die for Christ are martyrs who
immediately share His Eternal Life. While Fr. Jacques Hamel has not yet offi-
cially been proclaimed a martyr, we pray for his soul and pray that this beloved
Priest who served Christ and His Church for so many years, even beyond the
normal age of retiring from Priestly ministry, may now share the Lord’s resur-
rection and life of Heaven. May his tragic death remind us of what we hear
from Qoheleth: that all things in this word are passing and truly pale in com-
parison to the world to come. May we strive to be, as Our Lord says today,
“rich in what matters to God” that we may have the hope of sharing His Eter-
nal Life!
In Christ the Lord,
Fr. Vidrine

Intentions of
Pope Francis
for the
month of July
Universal: That indigenous peoples,
whose identity and very existence
are threatened, will be shown due
respect.
Evangelization: That the Church in
Latin America and the Caribbean,
by means of her mission to the conti-
nent, may announce the Gospel with
renewed vigor and enthusiasm.
Dear Parishioners,
First of all, I would personally like to thank Fr. Jason Vidrine for being a won-
derful role model for the Priesthood and letting Christ shine through his minis-
try. Second, I would like to say thank you all for a summer I will never forget.
You all have shown great love and support in my time of being here at St. An-
thony's! I feel as if I am part of your family! When I was reassigned to Krotz
Springs, at first I was a little nervous, but what I've noticed over the past two
months is the people of Krotz Springs loves three things in life: their family,
their food, and their God.
Being that this is my first summer assignment, Krotz Springs will forever hold a
special place in my prayers and my heart. Please continue to pray for me, as I
will for you all, Thank you all again and God Bless.

St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery
There is a display board at the Church entrance
which has information concerning a new mauso-
leum program for St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery.
This is a survey to see if there is enough interest to
proceed with the design, sales and construction of
a new mausoleum. The information shows a ren-
dering of the proposed mausoleum along with in-
formation concerning the cost of spaces and the
financing that will be available.
Also with the display board is a signup sheet for
those interested in getting more information. If
enough families are interested we will announce
the results and let the families know when a pro-
gram might begin.
You are not obligated to purchase any spaces at
this time, this is only to determine the interest of
our families.

PRAYER FOR PROTECTION DURING HURRICANE SEASON
O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee
obeyed Your order and returned to its former quietude.
You are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have
no control: the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, over-
step its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster.
During this hurricane season we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are
still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time.
O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son on our behalf, so that spared
from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps
of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem, where a stormless eternity awaits us. Amen.
