    Colossians 3:22 to 4:6

` 3:22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, notonly when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but withsincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. 23 Whatever you do,work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lordas a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25 Anyone who

does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.` 4:1 Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because

you know that you also have a Master in heaven.

`2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 Andpray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so thatwe may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4

Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the wayyou act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Letyour conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so thatyou may know how to answer everyone.

    Ephesians 5:21- 6:4

` 5:21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.` 22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For the

husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of thechurch, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as thechurch submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their

husbands in everything.` 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church

and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[a]her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and topresent her to himself as a radiant church, without stain orwrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this

same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their ownbodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no oneever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just asChrist does the church 30 for we are members of his body..

    Ephesians 6:1-4

` 5:31 For this reason a man will leave his father and motherand be united to his wife, and the two will become one

flesh.[b] 32 This is a profound mysterybut I am talkingabout Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you alsomust love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife mustrespect her husband

` 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2

Honor your father and motherwhich is the firstcommandment with a promise 3 that it may go well with

you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.[c]

` 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bringthem up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

    The Convenant Family

` Think covenant not contract` Marriage is a covenant

    ` Work different from home

` Covenant = love and devotion whether or not we aredeserving

    ` Living out the Covenant?

    ` Covenant Administration

    ` Covenant Instruction

    ` Covenant Affection

    Covenant Administration

` Jesus is the Head (this is emphasized in Ephesians andColossians)

` Man as a husband and father derives his authority from Jesus.

` Men should be under authority both civil and religious

(Romans 13).` Some men go from being conservative to chauvinistic?

` Mans headship is rooted in creation and not in culture

    ` Genesis 3:24

` The woman sinned first but` Adam was held responsible

` God holds the man accountable for the wellbeing of wife, childrenand grandchildren

    Some Tips for Covenant Instruction

` Men are pastors of the family flock` Find a bible-believing church where the Word of God is taught.

` Read the bible in front of your wife and children - modelChristianity.

` The whole family should have bibles. We should all read the bible toeach other.

` Have bible study tools available at home.

` Buy Christian books and read with your wife

` Have a date night with your wife.

` Pray with your wife and kids. Exercise spiritual authority.

    `

Redeem your commute listen to faith-building material on yourmobile device.

` Have fun. The theology of grace is pointless without fun.

` The man has to be wholly present - quantity time begets qualitytime.

    Covenant Affection

` Husbands love you wives.` Friendship is important in marriage (numerous references

to friendship in Proverbs and in Song of Solomon)

` The wife is the referee on the issue of whether the

husband is a good friend or not

` Unhappy marriage (John Wesley) vs.

    ` Happy marriage (Charles Spurgeon)

    Colossians 3:1-11

` 3:1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your heartson things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For youdied, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in

glory. 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthlynature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, whichis idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] 7 Youused to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now youmust rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other,

since you have taken off your old self with its practices10

and haveput on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in theimage of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcisedor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all,and is in all.

    Colossians 3:12-17

` 3:12 Therefore, as Gods chosen people, holy and dearlyloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgivewhatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgiveas the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on

love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.`

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since asmembers of one body you were called to peace. And bethankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as youteach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you

sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in yourhearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word ordeed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks toGod the Father through him.

    2 Corinthians 4:1-6

` 1 Therefore, since through Gods mercy we have this ministry,we do not lose heart. 2 Rather, we have renounced secret andshameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort theword of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truthplainly we commend ourselves to every mans conscience inthe sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled

to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blindedthe minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light ofthe gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, andourselves as your servants for Jesus sake. 6 For God, who said,Let light shine out of darkness,[a] made his light shine in ourhearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory ofGod in the face of Christ.

    2 Corinthians 4:7-12

    ` 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show thatthis all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed;

perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not

abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We alwayscarry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that thelife of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we

who are alive are always being given over to death for

Jesus sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortalbody. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at workin you.

    Faithful on Missions (1)

` Is Christianity still alive in London?` Mission is not just about sending a person to a place to

    preach.

` Mission can be about reaching people passing through.

` How do we live as missionaries in London?

` Live courageously have a heart for the lost. Take risks. We areoften limited by cowardice and fear

` Proverbs 29:22 fear of man is a snare. It puts men in place ofGod.

` Fear of tribe commitment to denominations. Because of this,we do so little, risk so little and try so little.

` Proverbs 1:7 The fear of God is the antidote to the fear ofman.

` Repent` It is not denying sin

` It is not diminishing sin - - not a big deal

` It is not managing sin - i have it under control

    `

It is not blame shifting` It is not excuses - God had u done this, i wouldnt have done that

` It is not getting caught

` It is not coming clean

` It is not religious repentance - repenting of other mens sins. Spend

all ur time talking about other mens sins` It is not manipulating God for blessing (paganism) - Oh ill go to

church if you do this or that

` It is not near confession
