Week of Oct. 19th – 23rd
Hello Parents – This week in our classroom we will be working with
addition and subtraction. Reflex is a great program to help students review their basic facts if they are struggling. In science, we are working on our Habitat unit. Please make sure to review the study guide as some of the vocabulary might be new for students.
Our Halloween Classroom Party will be on October 31st
from 12:30-1:30. Mrs. Garrett, & Mrs. Tandon, our wonderful room moms, are putting this “Celebration” together. Thank you!!! Students are allowed to wear their costumes to school on October 31st but all masks must remain in books bags until the end of the day. No “weapons” please!
CONFERENCES START THIS WEEK – I am looking forward to chatting with you about your child’s progress.
Halloween Parade, As most of you already know, the school will have a Halloween Parade inside the building on Friday October 31st @ 2:05. If you plan to come you MUST park on the street so you’re not interfering with Buses and Car Riders. Thank you
Please make sure to initial your child’s reading log every night so that they get credit for their reading. I officially check the log on Fridays. Don’t forget to look at the reading log for Thursday night homework. Many students are forgetting to do Dreambox or Reflex *** **Please have your child bring in a PAPER TOWEL TUBE for a project we will start soon**
The Lowes Island PTO and SCA are teaming up to collect canned goods for LINK and shelf stable milk and protein items for the Backpack Buddy Program. Fundraising will begin October 19th and end October 30th. Please have your child bring in your families donation to the boxes in the front of the school.

SOLs This Week…Math : SOL 2.9-The student will recognize and describe the related facts that represent and describe the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction. Students will be learning about fact families. Math Facts: For the first quarter, students will have 5 minutes to complete 50 addition or subtraction problems to 20.Content: SOL 2.5- The student will investigate and understand that living things are part of a system. a) living organisms are interdependent with their living/nonliving surroundings; b) an animal’s habitat includes adequate food, water, shelter or cover, and space; c) habitats change over time due to many influences; and d) fossils provide information about living systems that were on Earth years ago.
