With a fellow classmate, April Maclaga, we worked on the branding for Southeast Contempory Art Museum. We used the power of voice to drive our concept. In a simple form, it was a waveform, but in more complexity, how voice travels and who is speaking. With that, we looked giving a voice to the guest, SECCA having a muted voice and hearing the physical voice of the artist.

11 Identity
Project • Identity for Raleigh Warehouse DistrictClass • GD400 - Branding and Interaction for the Creative and Cultural SectorSemester • Spring 2015
As a way of creating an identity for the Warehouse District in Raleigh, NC, I made an art installation visualization that showed live data of when a member of the district, employee or resident, entered another establishment in the district. It did this by utilizing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies embedded in a key-chain sized device. When one person entered the location, the line would wobble in a thread-like fashion, more people, more movement.

the door to be able to read the rfid when someone walked it. this action would send

15 User Experience
Project • Project/Campaign Management SystemClass • GD400 - Advanced Graphic Design StudioSemester • Fall 2014
Working with Emily Porter, we developed a system to help different channels for a campaign or project to work together and to have the process be more visible for all the parties involved, especially the project manager. The highlight to the system was the archival aspect which allows anyone on the team to view how the data or assets have changed over time.
17 Traditional Book
Project • Traditional Book MakingClass • GD317 - Typography 2Semester • Spring 2015
A way to look at the method a traditional book is typeset and put together, I used the Gutenberg Project to create a chapter from the Arabian Nights. The purpose was to use the methods from the traditional book design in creating a system. In doing so, I created two signatures that I then bound into a book with a cover made of vinyl. The cover was laser cut and etched to give multiple textures.

Object • Bilingual Educational PostersPlace • Minamishimabara, Nagasaki, JapanDate • August 2011 - August 2014
As an English teacher in Japan, I periodically made posters for an English board at a junior high school. I created posters that would make the students think or to introduce a topic. One way I made them think was about the proverb poster above, or by doing an activity in class and hanging up the results. The topics I would introduce would be based of things they already know, like Christmas or the Chinese zodiacs. I did most of the illustrations or manipulated found illustrations online.
21 Layout
Project • Magazine Layout DesignClass • GD417 - Typography 3Semester • Fall 2014
A fictitious magazine about the culture and story behind food as part of a typography project. We had to come up with cover designs, table of contents, various feature pages and department sections. We also had to develop it into a digital publication for an iPad to deal with a medium change. The iPad portion was developed in Adobe InDesign’s Digital Publish suite. It was fully interactive.

Piece • Kuchinotsu - YugurePlace • Minamishimabara, Nagasaki, JapanDate • July 2013
Where I spent three years teaching English, the sun sets at the end of the rainy season filling the sky with various shades of pink, yellow, and purple. This photo was a 9-photo HDR. A similar effect could have been accomplished with a slow shutter speed and a polarizing filter; however, I wanted the water to still be choppy and mimic the dissipating clouds.

Russell Wilson, while a N.C. State quarterback, drives the ball during a game against Boston College in 2010. During my time at N.C. State, I learned how to shoot many sports. My favorite sport of all, though, is football. To be in a big stadium and feel all the energy coming from the fans and players is something powerful.

David’s Dumpling and Noodle Bar is a restaurant on Hillsborough Street. David brings a culmination of Asia to his menu giving it class and taste. Short of preparing the food in front of the customers David keeps a transparent restaurant. Because of this, I wanted to show David displaying his food to signify that he truly has a hand in his restaurant and it’s success. This photo won first place in environmental portraiture for Associate Collegiate Press.

Project • 3-D Printed Water BottleClass • ID 201 - Intermediate ID studioSemester • Fall 2008, Revisit Spring 2011
BombShell was a grenade inspired drink bottle designed during 2nd year of Industrial Design and then revisited during my final year. The idea was to make a sleek bottle design meant to be “grab and go.” The key design element behind the shape was the grip grooves to try and make the bottle more inviting to hold in your hand.

Project • Light Weight - Capstone ProjectClass • ID 400 - Advance ID studioSemester • Spring 2011
Light Weight was my capstone project for the industrial design bachelors degree. The criterion for the project was open-ended. The project was inspired by my experience with light stands repeatedly falling over. I surveyed 50 US-based photographers. It lead me into the development of the idea that I call lightweight to improve on today’s products.
