Founded in 1981, Lutheran Music Program serves musicians and audience members of all ages. We partner with churches, schools, and communies naonwide to present educaon and performance opportunies that reflect our core values of Lutheran faith, musical excellence, and nurturing community. Our flagship program is the Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Fesval (LSM). Financial Summary for Fiscal Year October 1, 2012, through September 30, 2013 The organizaon’s audit was compiled by independent auditors Smith Schafer & Associates, Ltd. Lutheran Faith Lutheran Music Program celebrates the rich liturgical heritage of the Lutheran church: The worship theme for LSM 2013 was “Word of Grace, Word of Life.” Nearly two-thirds of LSM students parcipated in handbells, chapel choir, intro to pipe organ, and/or church music history. 47% of LSM students came from churches enrolled in the Young Musicians Partnership. YMP congregaons establish local scholarships, which are matched by Lutheran Music Program. Twenty four Lutheran colleges and universies now offer dedicated undergraduate scholarships for LSM alumni through the Collegiate Partnership. Musical Excellence Lutheran Music Program inspires musical excellence: Composion was added to the curriculum at LSM 2013. Twelve students premiered new works wrien at LSM, and many composions featured sacred texts or themes. LSM students presented 32 concerts and recitals during Fesval Week. Hundreds of parents, alumni, and friends aended these inspiring performances. The LSM band, choir, and orchestra performed excing and demanding repertoire including John Ruer’s “Requiem,” Edward Elgar’s “Enigma Variaons,” and Libby Larsen’s “Ursa.” Ms. Larsen visited LSM for a two-day residency. Nurturing Community Lutheran Music Program embraces nurturing community: LSM returned to Luther College in Decorah, IA, for the fiſth consecuve summer. 141 high school students and 10 college interns from 29 states aended LSM 2013. The states with the highest enrollment were Washington, Minnesota, and Illinois.
