6.Flat rate tariff: A common rate is given to all units in paisa / unit

    7.Agricultural tariff:

    PARAMETERS OF ELECTRICITY BILL

    i. Connected Load: in kW: It is the addition of ratings of all the equipmentsconnected to the system.

ii. Contract demand or billed demand: in kVA :This is the Max. Load that we need at all the time. The billing is based on this demand. Even if you dont use electricity you have to pay50% of contract demand75 % MD in Last 6 months is considered for calculation.Billed demand is the maximum demand.

    20/31

Example for Connected Load andContract Demand

Suppose in your home there are 4 persons & yougo to the market to buy vegetables. You maypurchase 3 Kg of vegetables(Connected load) for aweek.

This means that this vegetable you will consume ina week, not at once in a day.Per day you may maximum require Kg of

vegetable(Contract demand) .Demand charges=Billed demand(kVA)* Rate/ kVACalculate CL & CD of this class

    21/31

    PARAMETERS OF BILL

iii. Maximum Demand: Maximum load (kVA) the consumer has used inone month. This should not exceed contractdemand. Otherwise penalty for excess demand is

required to be paid. Its rate is: Rs.100/kVA for LT special

Rs. 150/kVA for HT II, non continuous, commercialCategory

Calculation: MD ( kVA) * Demand charges

    22/31

    PARAMETERS OF BILL

iv. Energy Charges: These are depending on No of units consumed in

kWHEnergy charges: No of units * per unit rate

    v. FAC: Fuel Adjustment Charges; These are common to all & they are: 37 p / unit

  • 7/31/2019 m10x Presentation Session 1

    23/31

    PARAMETERS OF BILL

vi. Electricity Duty:It is central Government duty & its % is:

    Industrial: 9%Residential: 15 %Commercial: 17 %

Calculation:E.D.= ( Demand charges + Energy charges + TODtariff + FAC) * % of ED applicable for that class

  • 7/31/2019 m10x Presentation Session 1

    24/31

    PARAMETERS OF BILL

vii. TOD charges: Charges of that zone* No of units consumed in thatzoneZone A:22.00 HRS TO 0600 HRS: Rs.-85 p / u

    Zone B: 06.00 HRS TO 0900 HRS: Rs.0 p / uZone C: 09.00 HRS TO 1200 HRS: Rs.80 p / uZone D: 12.00 HRS TO 18.00 HRS: Rs110 p / u

    18.00 HRS TO 22.00 HRS: Rs110 p / u

    Calculation:TOD Charges: Charges for zone(A+B+C+D)

    25/31

    PARAMETERS OF BILL

    viii. P.F. charges

If PF is below 0.95 the penalty has to be paidIf It is improved then incentive is given on each0.01 improvement on power factor.

  • 7/31/2019 m10x Presentation Session 1

    26/31

    PARAMETERS OF BILL

ix. Excess load or demand charges:

If The load of the consumer increases above itscontract demand or sanctioned load , then thecharges are:

1.5 times of the per kVA billed demand charges(75 % MD in Last 6 months)

  • 7/31/2019 m10x Presentation Session 1

    27/31

    PARAMETERS OF BILL

    x. RGPPL charges: Ratnagiri Gas Power ProjectLimited charges These are:28p/u

xi. Reliability Charge: These are: 21 p/ unit

xii. Sales tax: It is 8 p / unit

    CALCULATION OF SAMPLE L.T. BILL

Data given: Area: Pune, MaharashtraCategory of consumer: ResidentialConnected load: 0.5 kW

No of units consumed: 48Fixed charges: Rs 30/ month for residentialED: 15% for residentialFAC : 5 p/uReliability charge: 21 p/uBlocks:

    0-100 units: Rs. 2.35 p/u101-300 units: Rs. 4.25 p/u

  • 7/31/2019 m10x Presentation Session 1

    29/31

    CALCULATION OF SAMPLE L.T. BILL

Fixed charges : Rs 30/-Electricity charges :No of units * per unit Rate as per slotEC = 48*2.35=Rs.112.8/-

    Other charges : Rs.5.76/-

    ED : Rs. (30+112.8+5.76)*015=23.65/-

    FAC : 48 * 0.05=Rs.2.4/-

  • 7/31/2019 m10x Presentation Session 1

    30/31

    CALCULATION OF SAMPLE L.T. BILL

    Reliability charge = 48*0.21=Rs.10.08/-

    Additional reliability charges= Rs 6.72/-

Total bill amount: = Rs (30+118.56+23.65+2.4+10.08+6.72)=Rs.191.41/-
