From the Principal’s Desk

Hello Parents and Caregivers Welcome back to the new semester and to a chilly start to the second half of our school year. Term 3 is shaping up to be another exciting term with plenty happening. Kicking off this weekend with our students being invited to sing the national anthem at the Gatton Show this Saturday. Over the holidays work on the first stage of our new eating area commenced. Miss Gogas will also be working with us again this semester. Miss Gogas will be working each Thursday. During that time she will be running our Playgroup in the morning and working with the 1’s and 2’s in the middle session. We look forward to having Miss Gogas and Chappy Ness join our school. School Opinion Survey

The annual suite of School Opinion Surveys will be conducted in Term 3 and will close on 30 July 2021. All families, school staff and students in target year levels (5, 6, 8 and 11) will be invited to participate. We encourage you to take this opportunity to have your say about what our school does well, and how we can improve.

An invitation to complete the Parent/Caregiver Survey will be emailed to one parent/caregiver per fami-ly in the week beginning 5 July. The invitation will be sent from the Department of Education, not the school, and it will have the subject line School Opinion Survey for parents and caregivers, 2021. Check your junk email folders if you can’t find it. The survey can be completed as soon as the invitation is re-ceived and will take approximately 5 minutes using a computer, tablet or smart phone.

Preparations for Ma Ma Creek Exhibition are in full swing, This year will be the 85th of its kind and hav-ing to have a year of in 2020 made the committee even more dtermine3d to make this one special. We are kicking off with a massive multi-draw raffle to come out later this week to be drawn during the Bush Dance, held on the night of Saturday, 24 July. First prize, kindly donated by Betta Electrical in Gatton, will be a Grundig Bluetooth speaker as well as many other very attractive prizes. Tickets will be $2 or 3 for $5.

Please support our fresh young Bush Dance organising team and come along on the night. Ridgee Didge Bush Band will teach you everything you need to know about a Bush Dance and trusty hall volun-teers will look after you with supper and drinks.

The Exhibition booklet is out and also available online at Ma Ma Creek Community fb page or at the many generous businesses in Gatton. If you would like to be part of our very much valued team of vol-unteers, please get in touch with Ma Ma Creek State School or on 0407122325.

WE had our Community market last Saturday and although it was very windy, we had a great turnout with live music and fresh organic vegies sold for the school Project Club. The local paper turned up to take pictures and interviews. So look out for this during the week.

There will be a social afternoon with Ma Ma Creek Indoor Bowls coming up on a Monday after school in August. Keep your eyes on details to come out soon.

Please keep looking after our beautiful lettuce in the community garden, they are sure to be winners in Junior Produce at the Exhibition. We may even have strawberries enter!!
