Visiting the city of Madina and the Mosque of the Prophet is not included in the rituals of Hajj. However, if time permits, it is a highly recommended action to do so. This may be your only opportunity to carry out a Ziyarah of the mosque Masjid Al- Nabawi and so this opportunity should not be missed. • Your group may visit Madina before or after the Hajj . • There is not a specific number of days that you must stay in either city/country. NOTE: There are no authentic references recommending you to stay for 40 Jama’ah prayers. Whether you stay for more or fewer, it does not compromise your Hajj. Bismillah;

Was’salaatu was’salamu ala rasoolil’lah;

Allahummaf tah’lee ab-waa’ba rahmatik.

Upon entering the Masjid, proceed by praying 2 Rak’ah Tahiyyatul Masjid (Naf).

With Suratal Kafirun and Ikhlas.

SALAM TO PROPHET صلى الله عليه وسلم AND HIS COMPANIONS

Upon completing Tahiyyatul Masjid, join the queue for the Ziyarah.

Madina: Ziyarah of the Masjid-an-Nabawi

Give your Salam by saying:

As-salaamu alayka ya Rasool Allah.

Peace be upon you, O Prophet of Allah or

As-salaamu alayka ayyu’hal Nabi-yuu;

Wa rahma’tullaahi wa barakaa-tuhu.

Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy and blessings of Allah.

Note: There are other shorter and longer salutations which you can add.

WARNING

Narrated by Abu Huraira r.a, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“Do not make your houses graves, and do not make my grave a place of festivity. But invoke

blessings on me, for your blessings reach me wherever you may be.”

Give your Salam by saying:

As-salaamu alayka ya Aba Bakr;

As-salaamu alayka ya khaleefat Rasool-illaah;

Fi ummatihi, radiya Allaahu anka wa jazaa-ka ‘an ummati Muhammadin khayran.

Peace be upon you, O Abu Bakr, peace be upon you O successor of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم in his

Ummah, May Allah be pleased with you and reward you with good on behalf of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.

FRONT OF THE TOMB OF THE UMAR رضي الله عنه.

As-salaamu alayka ya Umar;

As-salaamu alayka ya ameer al-mu’mineen, radiya Allaahu anka wa jazaaka an ummati

Muhammadin khayran.

Peace be upon you, O Umar, peace be upon you, O leader of the believers, may Allah be pleased

with you and reward you with good on behalf of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.

WARNING: Making Dua facing the grave of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم or requesting intercession from him is

considered SHIRK.

Info: Visiting graves is a Sunnah in all places, especially visiting Al-Baqee where many of the well-

known Sahabah رضي الله عنه are buried.

WARNING: Beware of the un-Islamic acts and Shirk committed by some individuals or group.

DO NOT imitate others, if you are unsure.

Upon entering Jannatul Baqee, recite the following Dua.

As’salamu alaykum ah’lad diyari minal mu’mineena wal Muslimin;

Wa inna in’sha Allahu bikum laa’hiqoon;

Nas’al Allaha lana wala’kum a’fiyah.

WARNING DO NOT make Dua directly in front of any graves.

After the visit, turn towards the Qibla and make Dua to Allah

Madina: While you are in Madina Sightseeing

Masjid An-Nabawi

• Pray maximum Nafl in Masjid An-Nabawi (Each Salah is multiplied by 50,000)

• Recite Quran and glorify Allah (Dhikr).

• Recite your Morning and Evening Adhkar.

• Seek Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.

Other important visit

• Visit Uhud: Graves of the martyrs killed during the battle of Uhud, including Hamza رضي الله عنه.

• Al Quba Mosque: Go with wudu and pray 2 Rak’ah which is equivalent to an Umrah in deeds.

Visiting any other Mosques with the intention that it is an act of worship by visiting is a form of Bid’ah

(an innovation). But visiting for general sightseeing seeing or Salah is permissible.

You may visit other historical sites (without specific intentions) which may be arranged by your group.

You can take a private taxi for sightseeing.
