Health Sciences• Science pre-requisites combined with healthcare
coursework that make a great preparation for graduate study in healthcare or entry level position in healthcare or health-related services.
• Program requires that students complete a minor.
• It is a two year program once admitted into the major

• Attend graduate school in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, Dentistry, Optometry, and more!
• Obtain an entry level position in a hospital or healthcare facility, work for a non-profit organization, medical or pharmaceutical sales, etc.
• Complete a bachelors degree following the completion of an Associate or Technical degree.

• Opportunities available for internships and research throughout program.
• Online course offerings and allow flexibility for work or family obligations
• Students can complete coursework on part-time basis
• Healthcare coursework, electives, and minor allow students to design their degree around their interests.

Current OSU students: Steps to declare an HRS pre-major
• Complete one full term at OSU; if you are a freshman or transfer student, you can not be switched until your first term grades are posted
• Have an OSU GPA of at least a 2.5
• Complete the Health Sciences MIS Quiz
in Carmen and check the appropriate box to change your major• Students will be notified within 2 weeks if their major was changed• If for some reason we cannot change your major you will be notified explaining
the reason
• Honors and Scholars students eligible for direct admission into major with 3.0 GPA.

As a pre-major…
• Students complete SHRS prerequisite courses and GEs• Apply to the major • Deadline to start the major in Autumn is January 31• Deadline to start the major in Spring is October 15.• Students must earn a C- or higher on all prerequisite
coursework
• Pre-major students must still apply to the professional program of interest

Non-OSU students who intend to transfer to OSU:• Apply as a transfer student - Indicate on the Common App that you
are interested in a SHRS major when you apply to Ohio State
• Or apply directly to the professional program via http://professional.osu.edu – if you apply and get accepted into Health Sciences that would be your acceptance into OSU
• For students in the state of Ohio please visit the http://admissions.osu.edu/standards to find transfer course equivalents
• For students who would like to transfer from out of state, we would encourage you to contact the Professional Admissions Office – complete a pre-requisite evaluation form
