We would like to thank Community Mutual for your support. Our students will definitely benefit from this kind generosity.

3/4 F Assembly 3/4F hosted the school assembly last week. It was the last assembly for the year. They entertained us with a skit called “School in real life – kids’ style” which used song lyrics to help tell the story. It was very clever and entertaining, well done 3/4 F.

The girls all came together in the afternoon for the Runway/Catwalk class where the Country Girl coordinators focused on anti-bullying, self-esteem, team work, and confidence building. The girls were all asked to come together for a GHOST anti bullying campaign that many famous Australians have been involved in. The girls loved and enjoyed the event on the night with a few nerves and lots of excitement, the girls both qualified for the National Finals at the Gold Coast in June next year! The girls came out with amazing experience & so much more self-confidence.

Primary Girls Captains’ Speeches Shayia Davy-Darlington Good morning, Mr Windred, teachers, students and visitors. My name is Shayia Davy-Darlington. I would like to talk today about being elected as your school captain in Manilla Central School 2016. An important part of being a school captain, a role model, is to be helpful and care for other students in the school and show respect to all teachers. I will do my best to assist and answer in any way possible, problems, questions any of the student body may have. It’s a big responsibility to promise to show respect and help others. And this is a promise I will keep if elected as one of your school captains. It would be nice to have more mufti days in this school. Thank you. Vote 1: Shayia Davy-Darlington. I will always try to show respect in this school. Holly Wagstaff Hello teachers, visitors, school students, Mr Windred and fellow candidates behind. If you don’t know me, my name is Holly Wagstaff. I would like to be one of your school captains for 2016. Why, because I have been at this amazing school for 6 years, I have represented this school in heaps of things like running, swimming, CAPERS, netball, basketball, cricket, touch, tag football and many more. If I become one of the captains, I would try to play more sports on the back oval and let everyone join in. I would try to stop the bullying going around and make this school more fun and a happier school. I would like to tell you guys about myself. I have lived in Manilla all my life. I live with my brother, Bailey, and my mum, Nioami. I go to my dad, Tony, and my step-mum, Maria, when I can. I love making and meeting new friends. I like talking to people and helping. I am nice, smart, funny, caring and very sporty, responsible, lovely, fun and good at listening and good to talk to and if you want to play a game, just ask me, and we might be able to play it one day at school. Well, before I finish, I would like to tell you guys about six years at this school. I loved coming to school when I was little. I loved the teachers, my friends and meeting new friends, school is fun, even though it’s hard. I enjoy school and the people at this school and I believe this school is number one for education and making great relationships. Thank you for listening. Good luck to all my fellow classmates and remember: Vote 1 – Holly Wagstaff. Thanks Jasmine Collier Good morning students, teachers and visitors. I now would like to tell you why I will be a great school captain for 2016. But first let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Jasmine Collier and I have been at Manilla Central School for six years. I have represented the school in various activities and some include netball, cricket, cross country and many more. But why do I want to go for school captain? Because I think I will do the school proud. I wear my uniform with pride, I help people in the playground and I always try my best at everything I’m asked to do. And remember, I’m always here for all my fellow students and the most important thing I can offer is FRIENDSHIP. Thank you for your time. Vote 1 – Jasmine Collier.

Angela McCubbin Good Morning Mr Windred, school staff, fellow pupils and guests. For those who don’t know me, my name is Angela McCubbin; I have three sisters and one brother. Mr hobbies include basketball, athletics, reading, socialising with my friends and having fun. I have attended Manilla Central School since kindergarten. During my time, here, I have represented the school in many areas such as: cross country, cricket, swimming, chess, basketball, athletics, CAPERS, choir and have good sportsmanship. I believe that being a school captain requires: good leadership, being able to listen to all, good attendance, polite manners and helping out when it’s needed and knowing when it’s not. Being a school captain is not about being popular or cool, it’s about who can represent our school with leadership and honour in all areas. I believe I will make a good captain for our school, because I am polite, caring, understanding, east to approach and I always try my hardest at whatever I do. I can’t promise you fizzy drink in the bubblers or a room made of chocolate, but I can promise you that I will lead this school with great pride and show respect to all in our community. Thank you for your time and good luck to my fellow candidates. Trudie Ison Good morning guests, teachers, Mr Windred, students and my fellow candidates. For those who don’t know me, my name is Trudie Ison. I’m the 3rd generation on my mum’s side to attend this great school. I am the oldest of three. I have a brother, Ely, and a sister, Dominic, which also attend this school. Since I started school back in 2010, I’ve represented the school in a number of ways, such as swimming, netball, athletics, chess, CAPERS and running events and a number of awards, like being able to attend every gold party, receiving pupil of the year 3 years in a row. But my most proudest award was for Excellent Knowledge in my Aboriginal Heritage award which was out of the New England Area in 2012. I’ve been chosen to be a buddy two years in a row which is also a great achievement in my eyes as I get to welcome, guide and lead our youngest peers in their first and most important month of their schooling. I find myself to be honest, releiable, respectful and also hard working. I always have the willingness to help in any way or anybody, no matter what it is, nothing will be too big or too small because every one of my peers are important. So there are some of the reasons I would like to be a school captain. So, on that note, I thank each and every one for listening and remember – Vote 1 – Trudie Ison. Phoebe Riley Good morning Mr Windred and my fellow students. My name is Phoebe Riley and I’m here to talk to you and hope you will consider me for school captain for 2016. At Manilla Central School we begin, we achieve and we strive to always do our best. My older brother, Lachlan, and sister, Chelsie, both represented our lovely school as school captain when they both attended primary. I have been at Manilla Central School from the very first day of kindergarten till now. It’s been a happy journey for me since then and I can’t believe I’m now standing here talking in front of you. I hope to finish my schooling at Manilla Central. Today, I will be standing before you hoping that you pick me to become one of your leaders for 2016. If you consider picking me for your school captain, I will promise to be always there whenever anyone needs to talk or just to have a friend. I consider myself to be a caring and understanding person. I have represented our school in a number of events. I can’t promise you days off or no uniforms, but I can promise you to always try my best. Remember at Manilla Central we begin, we achieve and we strive to always do our best. Just remember – vote 1 – Phoebe Riley

Emily McBride Good morning Mr Windred, teachers, students and visitors. My name is Emily McBride and I’m here to tell you why I’d like to be your Prime Minister, but since I’m too young, I’ll just go for the next best thing, your school captain. But first I’ll tell you a bit about myself. I was born in Gosford, which is a 5 hour drive from here. I moved to Manilla when I was 3 and I am an only child. In 2010 I started school here at Manilla Central and I’ve made a lot of friends. Being school captain is an exciting but huge responsibility. You have to run assemblies and represent the school at public ceremonies. So you need to know how to represent the school, which I have, in Zone Cross Country, Zone Swimming, CAPERS and Chess. I am a responsible and respectful person and I’m ready to help at all times. I have lots of ideas for the school, like more mufti days and fundraisers. If I am elected your school captain, I will always be ready to listen to your ideas. Our school has two mottos, “Respect Grows and Flows” and “I Begin, I Strive, I Achieve”. I believe in both mottos but I have another motto, “Ask not what your school can do for you, but what you can do for your school”. If anyone doesn’t know what that means, come and ask me afterwards. And remember, Vote 1, Emily McBride.

Emma Scott Hello and welcome, students, teachers, visitors and Mr Windred. For those who don’t know me, I’m Emma Scott and have attended Manilla Central School since kindergarten. As you would know, I’m nominating for school captain. Why? Because I believe I will be a brilliant leader. I’m an attentive student who always shows respect. I’m a nice, polite person who cares for fellow students. I have achieved gold level every year and have received several respect awards and a medallion. I have represented the school in netball, CAPERS, band, cricket, zone for athletics carnival and cross country. I love team sports and I regularly play netball with the Manilla Club. I also do swimming with the Manilla Swimming Club. If I were to be elected, I would continue the great tradition of past captains and ensure the morals and values of this great school would continue. And don’t forget vote me, Emma Scott, No. 1 for primary school captain. Thank you.
