Accessories

Only use the power supply includedwith the product.

Do not connect the AC Adaptor to anyAC outlet other than the standard AC220-240V.

The apparatus is approved for usewith PQLV19E power supply.

This apparatus is unable to makeemergency telephone calls under thefollowing conditions:

The portable handset batteriesneed recharging, or have failed.During a mains power failure.When the Key Lock is set toON.When the unit is in Direct Callmode.

Do not open the base unit or handset(other than to change the batteries).

This apparatus should not be usednear emergency/intensive care medical equipment and should not beused by people with pacemakers.

Care should be taken that objects donot fall onto, and liquids are notspilled into the unit. Do not subjectthis unit to excessive smoke, dust,mechanical vibration or shock.

EnvironmentDo not use this unit near water.

This unit should be kept away fromheat sources such as radiators, cookers, etc. It should also not beplaced in rooms where the temperature is less than 5oC orgreater than 40oC.

The AC Adaptor is used as the maindisconnect device, ensure that the ACoutlet is located / installed near theunit and is accessible.

Battery CautionUse only specified batteries.

Only use rechargeable batteries.

Do not open or mutilate the batteries. Released electrolyte iscorrosive and may cause burns orinjury to the eyes or skin. Theelectrolyte may be toxic if swallowed.

Exercise care in handling thebatteries in order not to short thebatteries with conductive materialssuch as rings, bracelets and keys.The batteries and/or conductor mayoverheat and cause burns.

Charge the batteries provided inaccordance with the informationgiven in this operating guide.

Insert the Batteries

This unit can be mounted on a wall.

Insert screws into wall. The centresof the screw holes should be 6cm vertically apart.

Connect the AC adaptor and thetelephone line cord.

Arrange the wires as shown, thenmount the unit.

Wall Mounting

For maximum distance noise-freeoperation, place your base unit:

-Away from electrical appliancessuch as TV, radio, personalcomputer or another phone.

-In a convenient high and centrallocation.

The AC Adaptor must remainconnected at all times. (It is normalfor the adaptor to feel warm duringuse).

Fasten the AC adaptor cord toprevent it from being disconnected.

If the ÛÛ icon flashes after a fewtelephone calls even when thehandset batteries have been fullycharged, the batteries must bereplaced.

! Charge new batteries forapproximately 15 hours beforeinitial use.

(The telephone line cord mustnot be connected to thetelephone socket at this time).

If the batteries are removed, thebattery icon is reset to ÛÛ (lessthan 30% capacity). In this case,even if fully charged batteries are fit-ted, the icon remains as ÛÛ until afull charge cycle is complete.On replacing the batteries, ensurethat the correct battery type isselected (see ‘Handset Settings’).

! The batteries must be chargedfor approximately 15 hoursbefore initial use.

After the batteries have beeninserted into the handset, place thehandset in the powered up base unit.(The telephone line cord mustnot be connected to thetelephone socket at this time.Please leave your standardtelephone connected untilbattery charging is complete).

The batteries are fully charged onlywhen ÒÒ is flashing.

Turning the Power ON/OFF

Turn Power OFFFrom the standby mode, Z andhold ± until a long tone sounds.

The display goes blank. If you putthe handset in the base unit, thebattery icon will display.

Answering Calls

When the phone rings,ZZ‰‰,KK--II,NN,JJ or LL.

When an external call is incoming,you can temporarily turn off thehandset ringer.

During an incoming call, Z andhold U.È is displayed and thehandset ringing stops. (This functionwill not work when the handset is onthe base unit or if an internal call isincoming.)

When the battery icon flashes (and,if programmed, battery low alarmsounds), the handset should becharged immediately because thereis little energy left in the batteries.

Battery Charging

Turn Power ONZ and hold ±.When button is released, displaychanges to the standby mode and aconfirmation tone sounds.

Battery Life

Battery life is dependent on use andconditions but in general when usingfully charged Ni-MH batteries:Talk time: 20hrs approx.Standby time: 200hrs approx.When using Ni-Cd batteries (basedon 800mA per hour)Talk time: 12hrs approx.Standby time: 100hrs approx.(Times indicated are for peak performance)The batteries reach peak performanceafter several full charge / dischargecycles.The batteries cannot be overchargedunless they are repeatedly removedand replaced.If battery life is shortened thenplease check that battery and chargeterminals are clean.For maximum battery life it isrecommended that the handset is notrecharged until battery icon flashes(ÛÛ).

Making Calls

ZZ‰‰.

Dial the number.After a few seconds, the call durationis displayed. The dialled number isstored in the redial memory.

When you are finished with thecall, ZZ±.

Alternatively, dial the number,then Z‰. This procedureallows you to edit / confirm thenumber before dialling.

If you misdial, ZW.

If Î flashes and an alarm tonesounds when you press ‰, movecloser to the base unit and tryyour call again.

During a phone call, ZZ SS or UUto change the volume setting toLOW (o), MEDIUM (oo) or HIGH(ooo).

Making a Call from theRedial ListThe last 10 numbers dialled arestored.

From the standby mode ZZXX.ZZSS or UU to select number.(To exit the redial list, ZZ±±).ZZ‰‰.

Caller ID is a service of yourNetwork provider and will onlyoperate if you have subscribed tothis feature.After subscribing to CallerID, this phone will displaythe callers information.If your unit is connected to a PBX ora telephone line that does notsupport this service you will not beable to use it.

Caller ID does not display callerinformation while using the handsetfor an intercom call. However, thecaller’s information will be stored tothe Caller ID List.

Making a Call from theCaller ID List

The last 50 caller’s phone numbersare stored in the order the calls werereceived.From the standby mode ZZSS or UU.The newest number is displayed.

If there are no numbers stored inthe Caller ID list no item isdisplayed.

ZZSS or UU to select number.ZU to scroll to previous callsand S to the most recent calls.Only the most recent call fromthe same phone number is stored.Only 12 digits of a phone numberare displayed. To display theremaining digits of longer phonenumbers, ZZCC..

Speed Dialling

You can store up to 20 telephonenumbers in the handset.

Storing New Numbers

From the standby mode ZZYY.new speed is displayed.ZZVV.Á and an index number 00 - 19 isdisplayed.*Enter a phone number (max 24digits).ZZYY.saved is displayed. To enter anothernumber repeat from *.

If speed dial memory is full memoryfull is displayed.You can keep a record of yourSpeed Dial numbers in thereference table included in the‘Quick Guide’.

Dialling Stored Numbers

Hot Key

Dialling a Hot Key NumberYou can assign the dialling buttonsAA - II as hot keys. You canchoose 9 phone numbers from thespeed dial list (See “Register a SpeedDial Number as a Hot Key”).

The number stored with that key isdisplayed.

ZS or U to view other numbersstored.

! This function is for PBXline/long distance service users.

A dialling pause is used when apause in the dialling of the phonenumber is necessary using a PBX oraccessing a long distance service.(see “Select Pause Timing”).

For example, when 9 (line accessnumber) is dialled followed by apause to access an outside linethrough a PBX:

ZZII.ZZXX. (‘p’ is displayed on theLCD).Enter telephone number.ZZ‰‰.Entering a pause preventsmisdialling when you redial or dial astored number.

Pressing X once creates onepause. To extend the pauserequirement time, ZXaccordingly.

You can lock the handset diallingbuttons. Only incoming calls areaccepted while the key lock is ON.

Turn Key Lock ON

ZZ and hold YY until a beep sounds.‘Ó’ is displayed and all diallingbuttons are locked.

! When the key lock is ON,emergency calls cannot be madeuntil key lock is cancelled.

Turn Key Lock OFF

ZZ and hold YY until a beep sounds.‘Ó’ disappears and key lock iscancelled.

The key lock is also cancelled if thehandset is turned off.

Call Waiting is a service of yourNetwork provider and will onlyoperate if you have subscribed to thisservice.

After subscription, your handsetdisplays a second caller’s phonenumber while talking and a CallWaiting tone is heard.You can answer the second call,keeping the first call on hold.

Please consult yourNetwork provider fordetails of this service.

first set the Clock (see “Base UnitSettings”).

Selecting a Base Unit

When auto (Automatic Base UnitAccess) is selected, if you move out-side of the radio range of the currentbase unit the handset automaticallysearches for other registered bases.

You can use your handsets as a 2-wayintercom. For example, when Handset1 calls Handset 2:

Transferring Calls toAnother Handset

The intercom can be used during acall to transfer an external callbetween handsets that are registeredto the same base unit.

For example, when handset 1transfers a call to Handset 2:

During the call, ZZNN.Ï is displayed and the call is put onhold.

ZZBB (desired handsetnumber).A ring back tone is heard untilHandset 2 answers.*

Handset 2 (ringing) -

Conference Calls

Your Network provider may chargeyou if they attend a service call that is not due to apparatus supplied by them.

This guarantee shall not apply to damage caused through fire, accident,lightning, misuse, wear and tear, neglect, incorrect adjustment or repair, todamage caused through installation, adaption, modification or use in animproper manner or inconsistent with the technical and/or safety standardsrequired in the country where this appliance is used, or to damage occurredduring transit to or from the purchaser.

4. If at any time during the guarantee period any part or parts of the appliance arereplaced with a part or parts not supplied or approved by us or of an objectivequality safe and suitable for the appliance, or the appliance has been dismantledor repaired by any person not authorised by us, we shall have the right toterminate this guarantee in whole or in part immediately without further notice.

5. The purchaser’s sole and exclusive remedy under this guarantee against us isfor the repair or replacement of the appliance or any defective part or parts andno other remedy, including, but not limited to, incidental or consequentialdamage or loss of whatsoever nature shall be available to the purchaser.

6. This guarantee shall not apply to batteries and any other items of limitednatural life.

7. Our decision on all matters relating to complaints shall be final. Any applianceor defective part which has been replaced shall become our property.

8. The guarantee period applicable to this product shall be 12 months.
