Abbey Forged Products is the UK’s leading forgemaster in the oil & gas industry. With over 30 years of experience in forging, Abbey are specialists in creating bespoke products using open die and ring rolling methods.
Manufacturing high integrity assured parts such as flanges, blinds, blocks and rings in various materials including Carbon, Stainless, Duplex, Super Duplex and Nickel Alloy our core grades being LF2, F65, F44, F51, F53, F55, 625, 718, 725 & X750 all from our central location in the UK.
Offering competitive lead times from just seven days, Abbey Forged Products give customers the advantage of an express service enabling them to react when it matters most, setting them apart from other forgemasters around the world.
Over their 30 years’ experience within the industry Abbey Forged Products have worked closely with major end users and OEM’s, gaining approval from BP, Exxon & Statoil for the new NORSOK M650 REV 4 qualification, covering Duplex, Super Duplex and 254SMo/F44.

The first process in Abbey Forged Products’ manufacturing process is sawing. With a wide range of band saws on site they are capable of cutting sections up to 800mm in all grades of metal, from carbon to nickel alloy. Having these facilities on site ensures we are able to meet short lead times and customer deadlines.

Abbey Forged Products have developed a superb reputation with the world’s leading oil and gas companies such as BP, Exxon and Statoil, for their forging capabilities. Abbey have perfected forging practices that enhance the material’s natural properties, so they can be used in harsh environments. Specialising
in open die forging, Abbey Forged Products have a large range of hammers, capable of manufacturing weights from 1 to 1800 kilos.

Abbey Forged Products’ latest investment was adding the capability of ring rolling to the site. Capable of rolling all grades of carbon, stainless and nickel alloys, the new equipment allows rings to be produced up to a maximum of OD 59”/1500mm.

One of the most critical parts of Abbeys manufacturing process is heat treatment, giving the material its mechanical characteristics. Abbey has a range of heat treating furnaces, approved to API 6A, ASTM A991 and NORSOK M650 Rev 4 amongst others, with both Water and Oil quench mediums. The various treatments we can carry out are as follows:-
• Annealing • Normalising • Quench & Temper • Solution Annealing • Stabilise Annealing • Age Hardening • Precipitation Hardening

The machining list at Abbey Forged Products is extensive due to on-going investment in this area. They have ensured they have the right machines available to complete the highest precision machining to meet all our customer’s needs, from milling machines to centre and turret lathes.
The machining process can be used to reduce material sections prior to heat treatment to optimise the mechanical characteristics, or to manufacture product that require a uniform size, making them ideal for further CNC machining.

The onsite testing facility holds both UKAS and ISO 17025 approvals and it maintained to the highest possible standards.
Abbey Forged Products have an extensive list of testing capabilities, which include:

• Impact Testing to -196c
• Micrographic Testing
• Corrosion Testing
• Chemical Analysis
• Hardness Testing
The final part of the manufacturing process at Abbey Forged Products is NDT. Our technicians are trained to meet international standards in testing the following areas:
• Ultrasonic Testing
• Dye Penetrant Inspection
• Magnetic Particle inspection
• Ferritscope Examination
• Positive Material Identification

EXPRESS SERVICEAt Abbey Forged Products all parts of the manufacturing process are carried out on their main site in Sheffield. This gives them the ability to produce forgings within seven days as part of their Express service; unique within this industry.
All materials from the range can be supplied as part of this service and receive a full 3.1 certification from our wide variety of stock grades.
The Express Service gives customers the option to be able to react to situations and implement the solution before they become critical.
