Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 29: Legal Metrology Department (LMD) has booked a Departmental Store and seized deceptive packages. As per official spokesman, acting on the complaint of con- sumer for being overcharged on the pretext of GST by M/s Vermani Departmental Store, Channi Himmat, team of officers of LMD today conducted exten- sive checking of the store. According to complaint, he purchased rusk packet and Nestle Cerelac marked with MRP of Rs 60 and Rs 196 respectively but he was issued invoice bill no 49803 wherein he was billed Rs 65 and Rs 199, overcharged by Rs 5 and Rs 3 on the items. The management of the store could not give satisfactory reply to the complaint and being an aware consumer the applicant filed a complaint to protect his rights. The team inspected the said store and found that the store was charging new MRP on old prod- ucts and a case of overcharging was registered against the owner. The team also found number of other deceptive items which were displayed for sale without adher- ing mandatory declaration required for the information of the consumers. All such items were seized and notice issued for production of bills to ascertain the exact rates of such items. Excelsior Correspondent SRINAGAR, Sept 29: Chairm- an, Juvenile Justice Committee J&K High Court, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey today saw off three non-local children from the Observation Home, Harwan Srinagar, who will be returned to their families. Director State Judicial Academy (Secretary Juvenile Justice Committee High Court) Abdul Rashid Malik, District Magistrate Srinagar Syed Abid Rasheed, State Mission Director, ICDS, G A Sofi, SSP Srinagar Imitiaz Ismail, representatives of UNICEF India Child Protection Unit and other concerned were also present on the occasion. Justice Magrey interacted with the children and enquired about the facilities provided to them during their stay at the Juvenile Home. He advised them to continue their stud- ies for their prosperous future. He highlighted that the primary aim of rehabilitation and social- reintegration is to help children restore their dignity and self worth through rehabilitation within the society and with their families. It was said that steps are being taken to oversee the implementa- tion of decisions taken at recently held conference on Juvenile Justice System presided over by Justice Madan B Lokur, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Judge In charge, Juvenile Justice Committee and Chief Justice, Jammu and Kashmir, Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed. Both, Justice Lokur and Justice Durrez Ahmed earlier visited the Juvenile Home at Harwan, Srinagar to take stock of facilities there. During their visit two children were reunited with their family mem- bers. The rehabilitation process of these restored children with their families will be monitored by the Social Welfare Department, District Magistrate Srinagar and Child Welfare Committee, West Bengal in coordination with UNICEF India so that these chil- dren do not become victims of exploitation again. Excelsior Correspondent NOWSHERA, Sept 29: The people from Qila Darhal and adjoining areas today held protest demonstration at the block head- quarters Darhal against the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Health Minister Bali Bhagat for lack of medical facilities in the area and also shortage of doctors at Nowshera hospital. The villagers were raising slo- gans against State Government, State Health authorities and the Chief Minister. They alleged that there was shortage of doctors in CHC Nowshera and no Gynaecologist is available in the hospital despite the fact that two posts are sanctioned in this Sub- Divisional Hospital. An Ayurvadic doctor is serving as Gynaecologist in OPD of CHC Nowshera and she always check and refer the pregnant patients to Sunderbani or Jammu. A large population of the area is suffering while concerned Legislators are least bothered. They maintained that a few years ago, some senior doctors were transferred prematurely from this hospital. Thereafter, no initiative was taken to post some other medicos in this hospital. They warned to block National Highway at Nowshera if the Medical staff was not posted there within two weeks. The people said that matter was also brought to the notice of MLA Ravinder Raina and also the MLC from PDP, Surinder Choudhary but the issue could not be resolved. The villagers Ashok Kumar, Isher Singh, Janak Singh, Mohd Riaz and Mukhtar Chowdary alleged that Coalition Government has totally failed to ensure development in Nowshera constituency. They said the issues of minorities are also not being proper taken up by the concerned public representatives. They also demanded that healthcare facilities be improved in Qila Darhal area. Excelsior Correspondent UDHAMPUR, Sept 29: Reiterating the demand of reorgani- zation of State, ex-MLA and NPP president Balwant Singh Mankotia said J&K can follow the past pat- tern of two Chief Ministers and one Governor like neighbouring States of Punjab and Haryana. He reiterat- ed that after reorganization of the State, each region will get its due share in every sphere and equitable development would be possible to end discrimination with Jammu region. Haq-insaaf yatra reached Udhampur District on Friday and NPP president Mankotia addressed rallies at Ritti, Kanula, Kghot, Barta, Jonu, Tandhal, Paatli and Karowan village of the district where local people warmly wel- comed the yatra started for separate Jammu State and assured full sup- port either financially and whole heartedly. Mankotia said after the forma- tion of BJP-PDP Government in State, Udhampur District remained neglected in development sector. People are suffering for potable drinking water, electricity, ration and dilapidated condition of roads and have forced to come on roads for their genuine demands, he said. NPP president reiterated that development of Jammu region was only possible till it gets status of separate State. Demanding the reor- ganization of the State, Mankotia said J&K should follow the pattern of neighbouring states having sepa- rate Chief Ministers in Punjab and Haryana but have common Governer in past which can serve the aspiration of three regions of Jammu and Kashmir. If those two states can follow that kind of arrangement then why J&K cann't opt such type of arrangement in the State to end dis- crimination with Jammu and Ladakh region, regretted Mankotia. Dr Muheet Ahmed Butt of the department of Computer Sciences was elected as its new president, whereas Prof Altaf Hussain Pandith of the department of Chemistry was elected as its vice- president and Dr Mohammad Ishaq Geer of the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences as its general secretary. Dr Waseem Bari of the department of Physics was elected as joint secretary- cum-treasurer. Court denies bail to bovine smuggler Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 29: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua MA Chowdhary has rejected the pre- arrest bail of Liaqat Ali, who is involved in bovine smuggling. While rejecting the bail, the court observed, "as per police report, the petitioner was accused of smuggling animals from Punjab to district Kathua in viola- tion of the order of District Magistrate Kathua and a case was registered vide FIR No 80/2017 under Section 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act", adding "since then the petitioner is absconding and has not associated himself with the investigation of the case". "Moreover, he has again com- mitted the offence of the similar nature and is required for investi- gation of the case registered vide FIR No. 200/2017 of the same Police Station. In view of the alle- gations with regard to the com- mission of offence and repeat thereof by the petitioner, in my considered opinion, he is not enti- tled to be admitted to bail in antic- ipation of arrest. However, he shall be at liberty to move a regu- lar court for grant of bail in case, he chooses so", the Principal Sessions Judge said. Several Balakote villages without water supply Excelsior Correspondent MENDHAR, Sept 29: Seve- ral villages from Balakote area of district Poonch are without water supply for about three to four weeks. The villagers from Balakote, Sandote, Lower Dhar Galoon, Morha Kallar and Sangiot alleged that PHE pipes are lying broken at many places while water pumping station is also out of order at Sandot. The con- cerned authorities have failed to restore water supply despite repeated requests. They sought the intervention of MLA and the Chief Engineer PHE Jammu into the matter. Manyal lays foundation of Sumb Circular road Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 29: Giving pace to developmental activities, State president BJP SC Morcha and MLA Samba Dr D K Manyal today laid the foundation of Sumb Circular road which will be con- structed at an estimated cost of Rs 18 lakh. Later Manyal also visited vil- lage Dholat where he laid founda- tion stone of RCC box culvert on link road on nallah Dholat at the cost of Rs 10 lakh. Earlier MLA visited Jallchak in district Jammu and inaugurated PHE water supply scheme which was constructed at an estimated costof Rs 4.76 lakh.The residents of these area complimented Dr Manyal for fulfilling their long pending demands. Addressing the gathering Swami Paul described the path of relgion as the ultimate key for peace and progress. It is the reli- gious teaching and humane approach put to practice while leading the normal family and social life which takes man to virtues and this truth was bril- liantly demonstrated in the life of Sri Rama. From Sri Rama's behaviour and conduct in life, we get to know the detailed applica- tion of Dharma in our social rela- tions. From him one learn his conduct towards his parents, brothers, wife, friends and even enemies. Sri Rama not only shows how should we put our- selves right with our fellow men but also that our love for them should be pure and absolutely free from dark hidden motives. In the present social scenario Swami ji pointed out that religion based perception of life and living in glory of the divine is more rel- evant and of utmost urgency for maintenance of peace and tran- quillity in the social order.
