JAMMU, Sept 29: LegalMetrology Department (LMD)has booked a Departmental Storeand seized deceptive packages.

As per official spokesman,acting on the complaint of con-sumer for being overcharged onthe pretext of GST by M/sVermani Departmental Store,Channi Himmat, team of officersof LMD today conducted exten-sive checking of the store.

According to complaint, he

purchased rusk packet and NestleCerelac marked with MRP of Rs60 and Rs 196 respectively but hewas issued invoice bill no 49803wherein he was billed Rs 65 andRs 199, overcharged by Rs 5 andRs 3 on the items.

The management of the storecould not give satisfactory replyto the complaint and being anaware consumer the applicantfiled a complaint to protect hisrights.

The team inspected the saidstore and found that the store wascharging new MRP on old prod-ucts and a case of overchargingwas registered against the owner.The team also found number ofother deceptive items which weredisplayed for sale without adher-ing mandatory declarationrequired for the information ofthe consumers. All such itemswere seized and notice issued forproduction of bills to ascertain theexact rates of such items.

SRINAGAR, Sept 29: Chairm-an, Juvenile Justice CommitteeJ&K High Court, Justice AliMohammad Magrey today saw offthree non-local children from theObservation Home, HarwanSrinagar, who will be returned totheir families.

Director State JudicialAcademy (Secretary JuvenileJustice Committee High Court)Abdul Rashid Malik, DistrictMagistrate Srinagar Syed AbidRasheed, State Mission Director,ICDS, G A Sofi, SSP SrinagarImitiaz Ismail, representatives ofUNICEF India Child ProtectionUnit and other concerned were alsopresent on the occasion.

Justice Magrey interacted withthe children and enquired about thefacilities provided to them duringtheir stay at the Juvenile Home. Headvised them to continue their stud-ies for their prosperous future.

He highlighted that the primaryaim of rehabilitation and social-reintegration is to help children

restore their dignity and self worththrough rehabilitation within thesociety and with their families.

It was said that steps are beingtaken to oversee the implementa-tion of decisions taken at recentlyheld conference on Juvenile JusticeSystem presided over by JusticeMadan B Lokur, Judge, SupremeCourt of India and Judge In charge,Juvenile Justice Committee andChief Justice, Jammu and Kashmir,Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed.

Both, Justice Lokur and JusticeDurrez Ahmed earlier visited theJuvenile Home at Harwan, Srinagarto take stock of facilities there.During their visit two children werereunited with their family mem-bers.

The rehabilitation process ofthese restored children with theirfamilies will be monitored by theSocial Welfare Department,District Magistrate Srinagar andChild Welfare Committee, WestBengal in coordination withUNICEF India so that these chil-dren do not become victims ofexploitation again.

at Nowshera hospital.The villagers were raising slo-

gans against State Government,State Health authorities and theChief Minister. They alleged thatthere was shortage of doctors inCHC Nowshera and noGynaecologist is available in thehospital despite the fact that twoposts are sanctioned in this Sub-Divisional Hospital. AnAyurvadic doctor is serving asGynaecologist in OPD of CHCNowshera and she always checkand refer the pregnant patients toSunderbani or Jammu. A largepopulation of the area is sufferingwhile concerned Legislators areleast bothered.

They maintained that a few

years ago, some senior doctorswere transferred prematurelyfrom this hospital. Thereafter, noinitiative was taken to post someother medicos in this hospital.They warned to block NationalHighway at Nowshera if theMedical staff was not posted therewithin two weeks.

The people said that matterwas also brought to the notice of

MLA Ravinder Raina and also theMLC from PDP, SurinderChoudhary but the issue could notbe resolved.

The villagers Ashok Kumar,Isher Singh, Janak Singh, MohdRiaz and Mukhtar Chowdaryalleged that CoalitionGovernment has totally failed toensure development in Nowsheraconstituency. They said the issuesof minorities are also not beingproper taken up by the concernedpublic representatives. They alsodemanded that healthcare facilitiesbe improved in Qila Darhal area.

If those two states can followthat kind of arrangement then whyJ&K cann't opt such type ofarrangement in the State to end dis-crimination with Jammu andLadakh region, regretted Mankotia.

Dr Muheet Ahmed Butt of thedepartment of Computer Scienceswas elected as its new president,whereas Prof Altaf HussainPandith of the department ofChemistry was elected as its vice-president and Dr MohammadIshaq Geer of the department ofPharmaceutical Sciences as itsgeneral secretary. Dr WaseemBari of the department of Physicswas elected as joint secretary-cum-treasurer.

Court denies bail to bovine smuggler

JAMMU, Sept 29: PrincipalSessions Judge Kathua MAChowdhary has rejected the pre-arrest bail of Liaqat Ali, who isinvolved in bovine smuggling.

While rejecting the bail, thecourt observed, "as per policereport, the petitioner was accusedof smuggling animals fromPunjab to district Kathua in viola-tion of the order of DistrictMagistrate Kathua and a case wasregistered vide FIR No 80/2017under Section 188 RPC and 3/5PCA Act", adding "since then thepetitioner is absconding and hasnot associated himself with theinvestigation of the case".

"Moreover, he has again com-mitted the offence of the similarnature and is required for investi-gation of the case registered videFIR No. 200/2017 of the samePolice Station. In view of the alle-gations with regard to the com-mission of offence and repeatthereof by the petitioner, in myconsidered opinion, he is not enti-tled to be admitted to bail in antic-ipation of arrest. However, heshall be at liberty to move a regu-lar court for grant of bail in case,he chooses so", the PrincipalSessions Judge said.

The villagers from Balakote,Sandote, Lower Dhar Galoon,Morha Kallar and Sangiotalleged that PHE pipes are lyingbroken at many places whilewater pumping station is alsoout of order at Sandot. The con-cerned authorities have failed torestore water supply despiterepeated requests. They soughtthe intervention of MLA and theChief Engineer PHE Jammuinto the matter.
