-LAST CALL!! The Milk Moola fundraiser from Kwik Trip is ending in March. Please send in any remaining Milk Moola that you have by NEXT WEEK on 2/28/19. We will do one last submission before the program ends. You can still continue to collect boxtops as that fundraiser is NOT ending!

-Stop by outside the parish office this coming Monday morning, Feb 25th, for a quick cup of coffee or apple juice after you drop off your children. We’ll have coffee from B’s Brew. Stay 5 minutes or stay an hour! We’d love to say hello!

-Are you interested in being a mentor family? We are putting together a list of families who’d be willing to be mentors to the families who are new to St. Nicholas School next year. This will primarily be 3K and 4K families, but we’d include any new family to SNS. Our initial thoughts are that you touch base at least once a month with your family. You’d explain how things work…like the pizza sale, scrip, etc. You’d also encourage your family to attend school outings and volunteer opportunities and you’d make a point to introduce your family to other school families. Please email Liz Evers ([email protected]) or send a note to the school office if you are interested.

-Mark your calendars early! We have the following dates picked for spring events: o Friday April 5th 6pm - 7:30pm Easter Extravaganza in the parish basement o Monday April 8th 5pm-8pm Culver’s Night in Little Chute o Friday April 12th 8am-9am Doughnuts with Dad in the parish basement o Friday May 17th Morning with Mom 8am-9am in the parish basement

Dear St. Nicholas Families,

To help fund needed equipment for the new gym, we are introducing Hoops Mania!

This is a fundraiser with a March college tournament theme and it is very easy to play. Players purchase a $10 playing card with pre-printed team seeds (all cards have seeds #1-8, two from each of the four regions). They can track their teams’ points on their playing cards during the tournament or check online. Winners will be notified regardless of whether they actively play the game. In addition, every ticket gives buyers free music downloads. All game rules are located on the back of the tickets and online at www.charitymania.com. And the best part? The St. Nicholas fundraiser is guaranteed at least one winner!

St. Nicholas families are encouraged to participate in this unique opportunity. The top five student sellers will receive prizes (limit to two per family)!

• 1st Place: Wireless Earbuds (or comparable value gift card) • 2nd Place: Fitness Tracker (or comp value gift card) • 3rd Place: $50 gift card • 4th Place: $25 gift card • 5th Place: $25 gift card

This is our first year of this fundraiser, but we’ve heard of great success from other organizations who have used this kind of game to raise funds. We’ve ordered only 500 tickets, but if we sell all our tickets quickly, we can reorder and for every additional 100 tickets sold past our original goal, we will add another seller prize. We want this to be fun!

The last date to sell tickets will be March 14th. You can send in sold tickets and cash before then, but stubs and cash must be turned in by the deadline so we have time to activate all the tickets. Please send everything in a sealed and labeled envelope.

We will also be setting up a table so tickets can be sold after Masses. Please sign up online at http://signup.com/go/RaftenO if you are interested in going that route. All tickets will be available in the school office. Please take only as many as you intend to sell. You can always pick up more.

If you have any questions, please contact Lena Cook at 920-213-2433.

Thank you so much,

St. Nicholas Athletic Council

Is it possible for you, or someone you know, to qualify for School

Choice ?    Once a student is qualified, they can attend Saint Nicholas

through 8 th  grade graduation without any tuition payment!

We wanted to follow up on some questions we have received to help other qualify for this great

program.  The first question is which students can qualify for entry into School Choice here at Saint

Nicholas.  The short answer is students enrolling for 4K, Kindergarten, or the 1 st  grade.  The family must

have income within a qualified level – see below.  Also, students that were previously being

homeschooled, or attending a public school, can enroll at any grade level.

The second big question is the level of income for families to qualify.  It is important to note that these

amounts are verified from your  Adjusted Gross Income (AGI)  on your tax returns.  Some families look at

the amounts and quickly conclude they do not qualify based on their salary/wages.  It is important to

know there is a significant difference between your salary/wages and your AGI.  Many of us have pre‑tax

items withdrawn from our income (Health/Dental insurance, Pre‑tax Health & Dependent Care, 401K

etc.)   Here are a few examples on the difference between wages and AGI:

If the  initial   results show a family is not qualified, there are often options available to them.  The AGI

may be reduced with a Health Savings Account deposit, Deductible part of self‑employment tax (if

applicable) savings to an IRA, student loan interest deduction, etc.  These may take some planning, but

help is available!

Also, if income is higher on the current tax return, another option is to consider using the previous tax

year results and applicable income table.  Families can try to qualify with either one of the tax year

results.

In the end, if a family does not qualify based on last year or this year, what can they do?   They can plan

ahead to try and qualify the following year if this makes sense for them.  They may have lower wages, or

a smaller business income etc.  Planning ahead could also allow

a family to proactively increase pre‑tax deductions like

dependent care, 401K/IRA so they can qualify next time.

We are here to help families afford a Catholic school education

in many ways.  Let’s work together to help more families achieve

their Catholic education goal!
