The CVRD toilet rebate program will help residents use water more efficiently. Replacing a 13 litre toilet with a dual flush toilet or high-efficiency (4.8 or less) toilet could reduce indoor water use by approximately 18 per cent. Homes with older 20 litre flush toilets could experience even larger reductions.
Only high efficiency (4.8 litre or less) and dual flush toilets areeligible. A maximum of two toilets rebates per installation address, including those toilets rebates received under the 2009-2014 programs, will be accepted.
Old toilets must be taken to the Comox Valley waste management centre (2400 Pidgeon Lake Road, Cumberland) for the proper disposal and date-stamped receipt.
The toilet rebate program applies to homes that are connected to the Comox Valley water system including the Town of Comox, City of Courtenay and the Arden, Comox Valley, England Road,Marsden/Camco, and Greaves Crescent water local service areas. A limited number of rebates are available for the program.

Metal roofs are no longer just for barns. Many archi-tects are incorporating them into designs for homes and businesses to achieve envi-ronmental and esthetic im-pact.
There are more than 25 colors from which to choose, and various styles and fi nish-es, including some that look like tiles or wood shakes. Depending upon the fi nish, some metal roofs will refl ect sun and help conserve hydro.
Metal roofs can be easily installed over shingle roofs, which can save some labor costs in the long-run.
To calculate the amount of metal you will need, and the length of the sheets, you should take the follow-ing measurements to your roof supplier who will cal-culate what you will need. The measurements include: width of roof in inches, pitch of roof, and the depth of the overhang (and whether that goes to the facia or over into the gutter space). If you’re also doing metal walls, take those measurements or your plans, too.
