THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK This astonishes us: God saved us by taking upon himself all the punishment of our sins.
Without complaining, but with the humility, patience and obedience of a servant, and purely out of love. -Pope Francis

Abstinence from meat on Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent (for those 14 and older) is required by Church law. Also, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fasting: those between the ages of 18 and 59 should eat less, meaning, take no solid food between meals and only one full meal that day. Serious health conditions excuse a person from these precepts. Pastors and parents are encouraged by the law of the Church to ensure that minors who are not bound by the law of fast and abstinence are educated nonetheless in an authentic sense of penance.
WINTER HEATING ASSISTANCE GRANTS
Through a most generous donation of an anonymous benefactor, we are very happy to announce that any parishioner of our tri-parish community who is in need of financial assistance to keep their heat on may apply for a grant. Only registered parishioners of one of our parishes will be considered. Requests should be submitted in writing with your contact information and sent to Father Ed at the Parish Offices at 5 Gibbs Street in North Providence, 02904.
SAINT ANTHONY KITCHEN MINISTRY UPDATE On Sunday, March 21st the Saint Anthony Kitchen Ministry was blessed with a donation of 70 meals which were delivered to the hungry in downtown Providence. The entire meal which consisted of kale soup, stew, bread, apple juice, sweet bread and flan, was donated by Victor and Mary Santos and Joe and Jessica Monteiro. Victor, the owner of Galito Restaurant in Pawtucket, along with his sister, Jessica and their respective spouses, approached us with an offer to prepare and donate the entire meal! We are grateful for their generosity and thoughtfulness. Please consider supporting this family owned restaurant located at 214 Columbus Avenue in Pawtucket.
2021 CATHOLIC CHARITY FUND APPEAL PARISH GOALS
Church of the Presentation $ 30,400
Saint Anthony Church $81,700
Saint Edward Church $20,900
Did you know that the Catholic Charity Appeal helps fund the diocesan health care ministry? The program covers the costs associated with our diocesan priests visiting the sick in hospitals, nursing homes and private residences. The ministry coordinates priest coverage for 13 hospitals (2,500 beds) and the one RI in - patient hospice care facility. 75% of active priests, many who are retired from a parish, help to provide ministry and emergency coverage for our sick, elderly and dying brothers and sisters in these facilities. As Catholics, we know how comforting it is to have a priest with us in such difficult times. Because of your generosity, this program is funded every year, along with 30+ other ministries and services You can return a pledge card in the mail, or visit givecentral.org/2021CCA. Thank you.

SPECIAL THANKS TO THE DE LA SALLE CHRISTIAN BROTHERS
Our outreach ministry programs received an unexpected and much appreciated, donation from the Christian Brothers. We received a phone call this week from Brother Dennis Malloy FSC, President of LaSalle Academy in Providence, informing us that some members of his community requested our parish outreach ministries be the recipient of a donation that they were putting together. They are aware of the numerous ministry works our tri - parish community undertakes each and every day and wanted to help us continue to live out the teachings of our faith to help the less fortunate in our community. On Tuesday Brother Dennis visited and presented a check which will be used to continue our fight against hunger and homelessness in our community. Thank you Brother Dennis and may God continue to bless the Christian Brothers in their ministry of providing a quality Catholic education to so many of our young people at LaSalle Academy!!
