Baptisms are scheduled by appointment with Fr Tom. A Glance at the Diocese of Balasore, India:

Mission Co-op 2020 Diocese of Balasore is a mission Diocese located in the north-east of India, very close to the Archdiocese of Calcutta. Balasore is relatively young Diocese established 1990. As in the case with all of India, Catholics in Balasore represent a minority and often persecuted members of the population. People in the diocese are very much tribal and rural in nature. Being of recent origin it has only a Catholic population of 30,000 whereas the total population of the area is about 9 million. Majority of the Catholic population are tribal who continues to live in poverty and illiteracy. Our parishes, missions, schools and the health clinics are served by 70 Priests, 146 Women religious, and 85 lay catechists. Education and empowerment of women and youth are of great importance for the future of the diocese. Health services in the rural areas are very much needed. Being poor, most of our people can contribute very little for the support of the Church, even when they have good will. Thus, we do depend on financial assistance from outside the diocese for carrying out many of our pastoral as well as developmental works. My dear friends, it is occasion for you to be a missionary by supporting this Mission Diocese. Please be generous as your means allow toward this Mission Appeal which will be on September 12th and 13th; keeping in mind the message of Jesus: “whatever you do to the least of my people, you do unto me”. Thank you so much for your generous contribution. May God bless each one of you, God bless your parish and God bless America.

Blood Drive – Sept. 13th

We need your HELP! These unusual times have created a great shortage in our blood supply. Our semi-annual drive will be a little different this year. It will remain in the lower church, however, you MUST make an appointment and wear a mask throughout the procedure. If you have donated recently at St. Anthony’s you may receive a phone call to set up your appointment. Those who do not receive a call but wish to donate, starting Monday 9/7/20 you may call 1-800-933-2566 to make your appointment through the hot line for our blood drive. The need for blood never goes away. Please take this opportunity to help our community.

TWENTY-THIRD SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME

“Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have won over your brother. If he does not listen take one or two others along with you, so that every fact may be established on the testimony of two or three witnesses... Amen I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father. For where two or three...’” Which seems better, that everyone know about a disagreement with you, or discreetly find a way to address it, with no one else being aware of it? Certainly, there is faster healing resulting in peace and contentment. One of the greatest powers we possess, is the power to forgive. Unfortunately, it is a power we seem to hold in reserve and often refuse to use. How often we have heard the phrase ‘forgive and forget’, but an unfair accusation or allegation cannot be easily forgotten. A wise, holy monk taught me to respond to a hurt with ‘forgive and remember without bitterness.’ Try it, it works.

Women’s Retreat There will be a Women's Retreat from October 2nd-4th at St. Alfonso's Retreat House in Long Branch, New Jersey. Theme: Choosing to Live in Peace Jesus said “Peace is my gift to you.” However, we don’t always experience that gift because of what goes on outside us and within. This retreat will invite us to come back to our center in God and be drawn into the peace of Jesus, so that we might be peacemakers in our world. He promises that whenever “two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in their midst.”
