SAINT MICHAEL PARISH
Our Mission
Rooted in our sacramental celebrations of the Eucharist, we seek to shape our future in a positive way through our
parish school, religious education, youth ministry programs and numerous Christian services. While maintaining a
strong sense of Catholic tradition, we look for ways to revitalize our Christian values through more openness to God's
word and our gospel call to love God and neighbor. Trusting in the Holy Spirit, we seek new ways of being a church
for members, active or not, as well as reaching out to the wider community.

FR. CHRIS LOWE NAMED
ADMINISTRATOR FOR SAINT
MICHAEL PARISH
Cardinal Sean has appointed Fr. Chris Lowe as
Administrator at St. Michael Parish in
Lowell. The effective date of this action will be
on June 1, 2019.
As you may recall, last Fall we anticipated the
appointment of Fr. Brian McHugh for Lowell;
however, after further conversation, the
Cardinal and Fr. McHugh both agreed that it
would be best for him to remain in Somerville
at this time, particularly in light of the merger
going on with those parishes as well as the
Healey Education Foundation initiative that will
be taking place there. Our thanks to Fr.
McHugh for having considered this
assignment. We also would like to thank Fr.
Joe Gaudet for all of his service to the people
of St. Michael Parish over these last several
months.
May God’s blessings be upon each of these
men, and congratulations to Fr. Lowe as he
begins this new appointment!
Gratefully yours,
Cardinal Sean

PARISH NOT CLOSING
Fr. Robert Blaney, Secretary for Ministerial Person-
nel, told Fr. Joe to assure the parishioners of Saint
Michael’s in Lowell that the parish is NOT going to
be closed. The “Collaborative Plan,” which is
scheduled to be a reality in 2023 is still going to
happen. This means that Saint Michael in Lowell
and Saint Francis in Dracut will still be individual
parishes “collaborating” where possible.
A GENEROUS DONATION
A very special and heartfelt thank you to the gener-
ous donation we received this week…
“Please accept this check/donation to Saint Michael’s in
the memory of Mary & Samuel Wood. They and their
children were faithful members of Saint Michael’s and
all eight of us graduated from Saint Michael School. All
of us continued to further our aspirations – B.C., Regis,
etc. – always striving to remain faithful to our upbring-
ing and Saint Michael’s and our Catholic faith. Please
remember the Wood family, deceased and living, in your
Masses and prayers.”
Sincerely,
Peggy Wood Mahoney

CATHOLIC APPEAL 2019
In recent weeks we have heard from parishioners about
the Catholic Appeal and how it sustains ministries
serving our parish and our school. Some of you have
already made a pledge or gift. Thank you!
Please keep in mind that Saint Michael’s has what’s
referred to as an “in-pew” response goal, which means
that our parish must return 83 pledge envelopes
completed by parishioners even if we’ve already given,
already pledged or do not plan to contribute at all to the
Catholic Appeal.
Another goal for us as a parish is our financial goal of
$36,430. Please take a moment to complete a Catholic
Appeal envelope, located in each pew or at the back of
the church. You can drop your completed envelope in
any collection basket. Thank you for supporting the
goals of Saint Michael Parish for the Catholic Appeal.
