From our Pastor Dear Folks:

Items for this week:

**(Saturday Night Only): Daylight Saving Time: Just a reminder that before retiring on Satur-day evening, turn all clocks ahead one hour. Spring is coming!

**Coronavirus: The Archbishop of Saint Louis sent out a wonderful and timely letter to the clergy and the parishes about the coronavirus. His letter is included in this bulletin. I would invite all to please read what the Archbishop has written. Beginning this weekend, all Eucharistic Ministers are asked to sanitize their hands before helping distribute the Blessed Sacrament. If you need a bottle of hand sanitizer, there will be a basket of small bottles of hand sanitizer for the Eucharistic Ministers in the west alcove of the Church. Please take a bottle if needed before Mass so that hands can be sanitized before distributing the Body of Christ. Again, read the Archbishop’s letter attached to this bulletin; it is practical to us all concerning good health practices during this time of sickness.

**Dominican Garden: As you probably all know by now, the convent will be torn down in June; in its place a park will be created. This park—green space—will be good for all. Given the complexity of this en-deavor, I have asked Bob Kintz to take over as project manager. Bob is handling all aspects of this. I want to thank him for doing this; this is a multi-faceted project.

Also, I am going to begin putting notices in each bulletin about this project. In the garden will be an area where people can purchase bricks that people can engrave family names, etc. Also, there will be benches, picnic tables, gate columns, new playground equipment, and the gazebo for people to sponsor with name plaques. On Sunday, March 29th, we will begin taking orders; there will be information on social media, the bulletin, and in the vestibule of the Church.

This is a large scale project. Currently, the parish has $200,000.00 in a restricted account. We are applying for a $50,000.00 grant from the Archdiocese of Saint Louis; the parish will know on April 6th wheth-er or not the grant has been given. If you have any questions about donations, please call the rectory office (314-961-8400) or ask me. It will be so nice to have a green space on this campus. And, with, “Brentwood Bound,” coming, now is the right time to spruce up the complex! This park will go a long way to doing just that. And, keep in mind, this park can be used at the Fish Fry, Mass in the Grass, Food Truck Night, School Picnic, Sundays after Masses; there are endless uses for this space. Please consider a brick paver or donation for this project.

**Lent: Please see the bulletin about Lenten Spiritual Opportunities. We are now well into the sea-son. I hope and pray that this is a fruitful time for us all to grow closer to God.

Have a good week and Lent!

Fr. Jack

Stewardship Reflection March 8, 2020

2nd Sunday in Lent

“Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.” Genesis 12:1

God calls all of us to leave behind our old ways and to follow Him, placing our complete trust in Him. Some of the old ways that we may have to struggle to leave behind might be materialism,

selfishness and greed. Yet God promises to show us a new land and a better way to live. Remember

what St. Teresa of Calcutta said, “God does not call us to be successful,

God calls us to be faithful.”

Stewardship Prayer...Oh Lord, giver of life and source of our freedom, we are reminded that Yours is

“the earth in its fullness; the world and those who dwell in it.” We know that it is from your hand that we have received

all we have and are and will be.
