Marcia Howard Marcia grew up in South West Victoria. She is one of seven children born into a musical family. She grew up singing and performing with her brothers and sister at community events with her mother accompanying the family on piano. After completing her V.C.E at St Anne’s College, Warrnambool she moved to Melbourne and graduated with a Diploma of Teaching in 1981 and then a Research Masters Education Degree, (Holy wells to Waterholes, belonging through song) at Monash University in 2015. Marcia has taught secondary school students, V.E.T. Music, and classroom music. She reads notation and enjoys vocal arranging and is a classically trained pianist and singer, and plays acoustic guitar. For the past twenty years, she has been a classroom music and drama teacher, part time from prep to Year 12. In this time she has also taught music theory and ensemble and song writing classes at various schools in Victoria. In 2003 Marcia relocated from the Bellarine Peninsula where she had been a Performing Arts Specialist Teacher at various primary schools and began teaching music & drama part time, at Emmanuel College, Warrnambool. For the past thirty years, Marcia has also sustained a diverse career as a professional backing singer, musician and singer songwriter in the fields of live performance, studio recording, music theatre, music publishing and education. For over thirty years she has experienced firsthand the full breadth of live performance – as a band member, bandleader and as a solo artist. She is a commercial entertainer and was a member of the legendary Australian band, Goanna as a backing singer and keyboard player. As a part of this triple Aria award- winning band she recorded and toured Australia for many years. She has enjoyed a successful solo career with her band, performing at Festivals and Concerts in Australia and overseas.
