INTRODUCTIONThisdocumentsetsoutthefeedbackfromInformantInterviewsconductedinStage1(OctoberandNovember2017)byPacificaBlueConsultingtohelpinformtheprocessanddevelopmentoftheDistrictofSquamishMarineActionStrategy(MASt).InformantsareconsideredthosemembersofthecommunitywhoareKnowledgeHolders,SubjectMatterExpertsorwhohaveexperienceinthemarineenvironment.Responsesweresoughtonasetofkeyquestions(SeeAppendix1)toidentifyviewsonmarinefocusareas,vision,goals,achievements,objectivesandactions.

TheMarineStrategywillestablishasharedvision,desiredoutcomesandpriorityactionsforkeymarinefocusareas,alongwithanimplementableactionplan.TheDistrictrecognizesthatthemarineenvironmentisadynamicandcomplexrealminvolvingmanyinterests.TheDistrictisinitiatingthestrategyprocess,takingasharedleadershipapproach,recognizingweallhavearoletoplayinthemarinerealm.TheMarineStrategywillthereforehighlightpartnershipsandresponsibilitiesbyothergovernments,stakeholdersandthecommunityincaringforandmanagingdifferentaspectsofthemarineenvironment.
