For past sometimes the US $ was under pressure due to several reasons hike,
partial U.S. shut down , concerns over slowing economic growth of U.S and
president Trump’s criticism of Fed chairman jerome Powell. However, the report
of strong US economic data & the news that US trade team will go to china in the
first week of January 2019 UAD seem the strength in US $.
At domestic front, there was demand of dollar from oil importers. There was
concern over the April - Non fiscal deficit of US $ 101.96 billion (or 114% of
budgeted target). It is feared that government will missed the target of fiscal deficit
for in current year. The only saving grace was lower crude oil price.
On the whole Rupee seems to be trading in a narrow range.
