Overview
The Safety Trained Supervisor (STS/STSC) certifications provides a means for employers to verify safety and health knowledge of first-line supervisors, managers, and any other person with safety responsibilities. The program requires applicants to meet minimum education and experience requirements and demonstrate knowledge of basic safety and health standards and practices.
Candidates
• Managers at any level• Safety responsibilities in addition to primary job• Helps an employer implement safety programs
through supervisory or similar job duties
Overview
Occupational Health and Safety Technologist or OHST is a title awarded to safety practitioners who meet and continue to meet all requirements established for the OHST by BCSP. Duties include making worksite assessments to determine risks, potential hazards and controls, evaluating risks and hazard control measures, investigating incidents, maintaining and evaluating incident and loss records, and preparing emergency response plans.
Candidates
• Will work part-time or full-time in occupational health or safety (35% is the minimum) and have duties that require technical skills and knowledge in occupational health or safety
• Will have three years of experience in occupational health or safety
• Must pass the OHST examination
Overview
The Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification is designed for individuals who demonstrate competency and work part-time or full-time in health and safety activities devoted to the prevention of construction illnesses and injuries. The CHST certification meets national standards for certifications.
Candidates
• Candidates for the CHST certification are typically employed as safety and health specialists on construction job sites, serving in either full-time or part-time positions.
• Typical individuals are responsible for safety and health on one or more significant construction projects or job sites.
Certification
• BCPS will waive the application fee if you submit orders or ID.
• You are required to pay the testing fee.
• $185.00 – $385.00 depending on the certification.
Military Version Civilian VersionManages 34 Marines. Directly responsible for the
safety indoctrination and training of 34 employees.
