Why do I need to submit PSAT, SAT, or ACT scores for some classes? Marymount has the same requirements for all its enrolled students. You will need to show that you have the minimum required scores in order to be enrolled in that Marymount course. Whether or not you qualify to earn Marymount credit does not affect your enrollment in the AP course. What happens if I don’t have the required scores? You can take the PSAT, ACT, or SAT again and try to improve them. At the beginning of the school year, students who want to enroll for Marymount credit but do not have qualifying scores will have to sit for placement tests that Marymount will administer at SPHS to determine eligibility. How do I register? You can pick up an application form from your HS counselor. You need signatures from your parents and your counselor. Turn the completed form in to your counselor. If you are applying for a course that has prerequisites, you must staple to your application form a copy of your scores printed out from the College Board or ACT website. When is the deadline to apply? What does this cost? San Pedro High School and Marymount California University have a unique agreement, and the program does not cost anything. It is free. What happens if I enroll in a course and later decide to drop it? You can either drop or withdraw from a course up until certain deadlines. See what the difference is and what the deadlines are on the next page. When I start to apply for college, how do I let the college know that I have already earned some credit? You will need to have Marymount send a transcript to that college. See the section on transcripts for information about this process. Marymount California University challenges students of all backgrounds and ages to pursue lives of leadership and service. With Oceanview, Waterfront, and Lakeside campuses, the University offers a distinctive range of experiences along the Los Angeles County coastline in Palos Verdes, in downtown San Pedro, and in rural Northern California. The spirit of its founding order, the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, guides the University to cultivate integrity, respect for human dignity and commitment to justice as a Catholic institution. Marymount offers Associate of Arts degrees; Bachelor of Arts degrees in Business, Liberal Arts, Media Studies and Psychology; Master of Science degrees in Community Psychology and in Leadership and Global Development; and a Master of Business Administration.
