  • COME AND SEE! Are you, or do you know anyone, who has not yet been baptized

or was baptized in another Christian faith? Ever wondered why

Catholics bless themselves with the sign of the cross, what they

believe about communion, what’s up with all those saints and

statues, and rosaries, and standing, sitting and kneeling? Why

does Mary seem so important? Well, why not come and see

    and come and learn?

This year’s RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Program

begins on Thursday, September 6. We meet in the Youth Room,

Room 120, in the school. The entrance to this room is opposite

our Chapel-Our Lady of San Juan. There is no cost, no obliga-

tion, no commitment necessary. In a series of friendly, informa-

tive and spiritually exciting classes we will explore the major

things Catholics believe and why. We will learn more about the

Mass and what is happening and why. Learn about prayer,

scripture, sacraments and Church history, and much more.

Are you Catholic and interested in learning more about your

faith? Would you be willing to be part of this program to be part

of a faith community willing to journey with and support those

interested in learning more about our faith? Now may be the

moment that God is calling you to be part of an exciting minis-

    try.

So, if you are currently a non-Catholic wanting to learn more

about Catholicism, or a Catholic willing to be part of an exciting

ministry, please call Deacon John Kerrigan at (214) 886-8239.

God may be calling you. Listen, pray and come and see….

LETTER FROM OUR PASTOR/CARTA DE NUESTRO PARROCO

    Dear Parishioners,

The pews in the Adoration Chapel are sent

off for refinishing and are scheduled for

return on the week of August 27. This

project includes the stabilization of the

pews so that the creaking will no longer be

a distraction to prayer. Reversible two

inches thick cushions will be placed on the

seating area of the pews and new kneelers

will be added. The pews are from the origi-

nal church. The memorial plaques on the

ends will remain. Cushioned chairs are

placed in the Chapel while the pews are

removed so that Adoration will continue

uninterrupted. The funding for this project

is made possible by a donation from a pa-

    rishioner.

Additionally, a Crucifix, donated by parish-

ioners, will be placed in the niche above

the tabernacle. The statue of Our Lady of

San Juan will be moved to the left side of the entrance area of

the chapel and placed securely on a shelf for devotion. This

statue that is very dear to our parishioners will evoke a prelude

to Eucharistic Adoration by Our Lady as we will see the statue

upon first entering the Chapel. A holy water font will be placed

below the statue further highlighting the ritual of entrance into

the Chapel. A 31 inches Crucifix will be placed in the niche

above the tabernacle. The placement of Our Lord upon the Holy

Cross as the visual centerpiece above the monstrance in the

tabernacle will deepen our time of adoration through contempla-

tion of the passion of Our Lord.

Many people make use of the Adoration Chapel for prayer. The

recent efforts at restoration will bring this important prayer

space to a new level of clarity and freshness. The well-ordered

prayer space of the Chapel is mentioned in the narrative of the

Last Supper. “When it was evening, he reclined at table with the

Twelve.” (Matt. 26:20) As we are seated or kneeling in the Ado-

ration Chapel we take our place alongside the twelve apostles to

    adore the Eucharistic Lord.

O God, most wonderful in all Thy ways,

Most in this mystery of love, upraise

My heart to Thee in canticles of praise!

    Your Pastor,

    Father David.

    Queridos Feligreses,

    Padre David.
