BAPTISMS
A MESSAGE FROM FATHER RICH
When one begins doing repairs on a house, other things inevitably come up that need attention. The same can be said in tuck-pointing the Church. When the downspouts were taken down to tuck-point behind them it was noticed that the joints of downspouts were completely rusted and need to be replaced. In power washing the Church to clean the brick for tuck-pointing, you can see the wood showing where they were painted. These are some things that need to be addressed and I am in the process of getting bids to get this done. The money for this project will be coming out of the Building Fund as we need to preserve the great treasure we have in the beautiful Church.
I’d like to extend a THANK YOU to Dean Henningfeld for his donation of the meal for our Funeral Luncheon Committee.
~ Father Rich

DEACON NEAL’S REFLECTION CORNER Reading this Gospel, I'm a little confused. At the begin-ning, he told the apostles, "Fear no one". Then a little later he says, "...rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.” Confused?
This is an example of why we have to be careful of interpreting scripture on our own. Jesus tells us often to not be afraid or fear not but with this "afraid", he's basically saying to avoid those kind of people that could hurt your soul. Our soul is more important than our bodily needs. How often do we say, "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil" when we pray the Our Father.
As Jesus says in this Gospel today and in the words of the Our Father, "Don't put yourself into a situation that could lead to sin and hurt your soul.”
- Deacon Neal
