My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Imagine this scene; A man dies and arrives before the Judgment Seat of God. The Divine Judge goes through the Book of Life and does not find the man’s name. So, He announces to the man that his place is in hell. The man protests, “But what did I do? I did nothing!” “Precisely,” replies God, “that is why you are going to hell.” That man could well be the rich man in today’s par-able. The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus has left bible readers wondering why the rich man had to go to hell. We are not told he acquired his wealth by foul means or that he was responsible for the poverty and misery of Lazarus. In fact, we are not even told that Lazarus begged from him and he refused to help. We are not told that he committed any crime or evil deed. All we are told is that he was feed-ing and clothing himself as well as any other successful human being has a right to do. Why then did he go to hell? The problem we have pinpointing the reason has a lot to do with what we think sin is. We often think that we sin only by thought, word and deed, that is by sins of commis-sion. We forget a fourth and very important way through which we sin, namely, by omission. In the “Formula of General Confession” we say these words: “I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,” yet, how readily we forget the sin of omission. Today’s parable re-minds us that the sin of omission can land someone in hell. This is what happens to the rich man. The poor man, Lazarus, was lying at the rich man's gate. He was shabbily clothed, barefoot and displayed open wounds. He was in clear need of assistance. And this rich man simply couldn’t care less. “Whatever happens to him there outside the gate is none of my business,” he probably said to himself. “I mind my business. People should mind theirs.” Next, the rich man might have notified the police to report that a stranger was loitering outside his gate. In the meantime, dogs went and licked Lazarus’ wounds. And then the poor man died. The Authorities came and picked him up and buried it in an unmarked grave, while the rich man went and had another cup of coffee. Of course, he did nothing against Lazarus but he failed to help his neighbor. He failed to perform an act of human kindness by reaching out and sharing a little of his blessings with someone in need. His sin is that of omission, and for that he was going to roast in hell. Then the King will answer, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me.’Matthew 25:45 The good news of this parable is this: If you feel like a Lazarus right now, battered by sickness, poverty and pain, forgotten by society and by those whom God has blessed in this life, continue believing and trusting in God, knowing that it will be well with your soul. If you see yourself as one of those blessed by God with the good things of life, open your door and see. Probably there is a Lazarus lying at your gates and you have not taken notice.

Stewardship Reflections “My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented. Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established…” LUKE 16:25-26 When God created the world He declared that it was good and He gave it to all mankind for us to enjoy. However, over the years we have created a chasm between those who have great gifts and those who do not. In today’s Gospel we see that with our own generosity we must bridge that gap between those who have much and those who have little or we may find our-selves on the wrong side of the chasm in the next life. Desde el Escritorio del Párroco Mis queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,
Imagina esta escena; un hombre muere y llega ante el tribunal de Dios. El Juez Divino revisa el Libro de la Vida y no encuentra el nombre por ningún lado. Entonces, le anun-cia al hombre que su lugar está en el infierno. El hombre protesta: “¿Pero qué hice? ¡No hice nada!” “Precisamente”, responde Dios,” es por eso que vas al infierno ". Ese hombre bien podría ser el hombre rico en la parábola de hoy. La parábola del hombre rico y Lázaro ha dejado a los lectores de la Biblia preguntándose por qué el hombre rico tuvo que ir al infierno. No se nos dice que adquirió su rique-za por medios sucios o que fue responsable de la pobreza y la miseria de Lázaro. De hecho, ni siquiera se nos dice que Lázaro le suplicó y se él negó a ayudar. No se nos dice que cometió algún delito o acto malvado. Todo lo que se nos dice es que se alimentaba y vestía , así como cualquier otro ser humano exitoso tiene derecho a hacerlo. ¿Por qué enton-ces se fue al infierno? El problema que señalamos que la razón tiene mucho que ver con lo que creemos que es el pecado. A menudo pensamos que pecamos solo por pensamiento, palabra y obra, es decir, por pecados de comisión. Olvidamos una cuarta y muy importante forma por la cual pecamos, es decir, por omisión. En la “Fórmula de la confesión general” deci-mos estas palabras: “He pecado por mi propia culpa, en mis pensamientos y con mis palabras, en lo que he hecho y en lo que no he dejado de hacer”, sin embargo, con qué facilidad olvidamos el pecado de omisión. La parábola de hoy nos recuerda que el pecado de omisión puede llevar a alguien al infierno. Esto es lo que le sucedió al hombre rico. El pobre hombre, Lázaro, yacía en la puerta del rico. Es-taba vestido de forma desaliñada, descalzo y con heridas abiertas. Tenía una clara necesidad de asistencia. Y a este hombre rico simplemente no podría importarle menos. “Lo que sea que le pase allí fuera de la puerta no es asunto mío”, probablemente se dijo a sí mismo. “Me importa mi negocio. La gente debería tener en cuenta lo suyo.” Luego, el hombre rico podría haber notificado a la policía que un extraño esta-ba merodeando fuera de su puerta. Mientras tanto, los perros fueron y lamieron las heridas de Lázaro. Y entonces el pobre hombre murió. Luego vinieron las Autoridades, lo recogie-ron y lo enterraron en una tumba sin nombre, mientras el hombre rico fue y tomó otra taza de café. Por supuesto, no hizo nada contra Lázaro, pero no pudo ayudar a su vecino. No logró realizar un acto de bondad humana al acercarse y compartir un poco de sus bendiciones con alguien que lo necesitaba. Su pecado es el de la omisión, y por eso iba a asarse en el infierno. Entonces el Rey responderá: “En verdad te digo, lo que no hiciste por uno de los más pequeños, no lo hiciste por Mí”. Mateo 25:45 La buena noticia de esta parábola es esta: si te sientes como un Lázaro en este momento, golpeado por la enferme-dad, la pobreza y el dolor, olvidado por la sociedad y por aquellos a quienes Dios ha bendecido en esta vida, continúa creyendo y confiando en Dios, sabiendo que es bueno para tu alma. Si te ves como uno de los bendecidos por Dios con las cosas buenas de la vida, abre tu puerta y mira. Probable-mente hay un Lázaro tirado y tu no te has dado cuenta.

La inscripción es muy fácil. Los formularios se en-cuentran a la entrada de la parroquia. Son unas tarjetas de color crema con el título “Registro Parroquial”. Después de completarla, colóquela en el buzón ubicado en la puerta al lado de la fuente de agua.

El Instituto Pastoral del Sureste (SEPI) una organización misionera moderna que lleva el evangelio de Jesucristo a todo el Sureste de los Estados Unidos. Es una de las ocho oficinas regionales establecidas por los Obispos de EE.UU. para la aten-ción de los hispanos. Fue fundada en el 1978. El SEPI es una organización educa-cional y de servicio que asiste a los Obis-pos Católicos de ocho estados del sureste en desarrollar y entrenar líderes en su fe y cultura para la integración de la comunidad hispana en la vida de la iglesia y la sociedad. El SEPI colabora con las diócesis en la implementación de sus planes pastorales, fortalece la vida familiar y promueve la dignidad y talentos del individuo. EI programa completo de las Clases de Ministerio (NIVEL II) consta de 10 clases y se dictan durante dos años cada dos meses. Cada curso consta de 15 horas de instrucción y en total son 150 horas de preparación teológica y de liderazgo pastoral. El costo de cada clase es de $35. ¡Estamos viviendo el Evangelio con valentía a través de la Campaña Pastoral Anual! Nuestra parroquia está llena de personas ge-nerosas y afectuosas que entienden y abrazan la Campaña Pastoral Anual y el bien que trae a nuestra parroquia y a nuestra diócesis. Gra-cias a todos los que dieron un obsequio de sacrificio a la APA de este año. Su generosidad hacia APA apoya la misión de Jesucristo, permitiéndonos lle-var el amor y la misericordia de Dios más allá de los límites de nuestra parroquia. Si aún no ha hecho un rega-lo, nunca es demasiado tarde. Sé valiente, deja que la fe sea tu guía, la esperanza sea tu inspiración y el amor ins-pire tu acción. Cada regalo de cada tamaño difunde el mensaje amoroso de Jesucristo. ¡SE VALIENTE!
Reflexiones de administración Pastoral “Hijo mío, recuerda que recibiste lo que fue bueno durante tu vida, mientras que Lázaro también recibió lo que era ma-lo; pero ahora está consolado aquí, mientras que tú estás atormentado. Además, entre nosotros y usted se establece un gran abismo ... "LUCAS 16: 25-26 Cuando Dios creó el mundo, declaró que era bueno y se lo dio a toda la humanidad para que lo disfrutemos. Sin em-bargo, a lo largo de los años hemos creado un abismo entre los que tienen grandes dones y los que no. En el Evangelio de hoy vemos que con nuestra propia generosidad debemos cerrar esa brecha entre los que tienen mucho y los que no tienen, se encuentran en el lado equivocado del abismo en la próxima vida.
Vista Vocacional ¡Valor! Valor cuando sigues al Señor. Recuerda, la gente puede no estar convencida, incluso si uno se levanta de la muerte. Vivir, para convencer de la resurrección y la vida.

Oh Dios, Maestro de este mundo pasajero,
escucha las voces humildes de tus hijos e hijas. El mar de Galilea obedeció tu orden y volvió a su
antigua quietud. Todavía eres el Maestro de la tierra y del mar.
Vivimos bajo la sombra de un gran peligro sobre el cual no tenemos control: el golfo, que como enojado e irritado
gigante, puede despertar de su aparente letargo, sobrepasar sus límites convencionales, e invadir nuestra
tierra, creando caos y desastres. Durante esta temporada de huracanes nos dirigimos a ti,
oh Padre amoroso. Evítanos revivir las tragedias pasadas cuyos recuerdos
están aún tan frescos en nuestra memoria y cuyas heridas parecen rehusarse a sanar con el paso del tiempo. Oh Virgen, Estrella del Mar, nuestra amada Madre,
te pedimos que implores con tu Hijo en nuestro favor, para que se digne librarnos de las calamidades comunes a esta área y nos conceda un verdadero espíritu de gratitud, para poder seguir los pasos de tu divino Hijo y así llegar a la Jerusalén celestial, donde nos espera una eternidad sin
tormentas. Amén.
