THE BIG BUSINESS OF BIG DATA Data analytics — often referred to as “Big Data” — is an emerging and immensely powerful resource for businesses and other organizations. Yet Forbes magazine reports that, while today’s business leaders have more and more data at their fingertips, they lack the highly skilled workforce needed to harness this information and turn it into successful practice. The Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) continues Bentley’s long tradition of training analytics professionals at the graduate level, providing the valuable tools needed to succeed in this emerging field. LIVING ON THE CUTTING EDGE Success in today’s business world requires a practical, hands-on approach to information, whether you are analyzing it, integrating it or sharing it. Our seven high-tech learning labs ensure that you’ll have access to the bleeding edge of tech- nology, giving you every opportunity to cut your teeth on the equipment and software being used in the business world today. MSBA candidates can take advantage of our User Experience Center or Computer Information Systems Technology Sandbox, and learn how to manipulate working solutions from real data trends they uncovered. CLUSTERS The Bentley MSBA is built around a six-course core component, coupled with four focused electives in one of the following six clusters: data science, economics, finance, information management, management or marketing. This program is designed to match the needs of a wide variety of employers in the analytics space, so career opportunities are very strong upon graduation. MASTER OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS ANALYTICS The Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program gives students an in-depth understanding of the latest data analytics practices. The program looks at commonly used statistical modeling methodologies, as well as leading state-of-the-art data mining techniques, and challenges students to not just master data analysis, but be able to refine and develop strategies for communication of their findings. Bentley has been a leader in the advanced study of business analytics for more than 20 years, and this expanded program takes this commitment to a new level. The MSBA program is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) designated program.

Amanda DerySenior Data Scientist Virgin Pulse

Amanda Dery enrolled in Bentley’s MS in Business Analytics (MSBA) with high hopes of advancing up the data science career ladder. She felt she lacked deep expertise in statistical modeling and data manipulation, and chose Bentley because it covered three major components of data science: statistics, computer science, and storytelling.

“Every class was directly applicable to what I was doing at work,” says Dery, who used modeling techniques from classes like data mining, time series and customer data analysis. “And Bentley’s MSBA is within the business school versus a computer science school. This makes a huge difference because business analytics and data science are all about solving business problems.”

Dery’s confidence is high, and the toolbox of modeling techniques she learned at Bentley has accelerated her career path.

“Right now, many companies are only just starting to leverage this data and need someone who can tell them what to do with it,” she says. “After completing this program, you can help them analyze how their business is doing and make recommendations as to how it can be improved. If this sounds like something you want to do, then Bentley MSBA is the right program for you.”
