The Intention of the„Ski – Plan“
• First Step:– Flattering and widening of the existing pists and
skiways
– Establishing an Artificila Snow making system
– Development of the lifts: 2 new lifts (Ruia and Lupului); building of new pists for these lifts
• Second Step:– Development of the skiarea to Risnov (2 lifts)
Klenkhart & Partner Consulting 14
Ski area after Step 1• 6 CLD Ruia: 2.400 pers./h;
ca. 1.100 m length
• 4 CLF Lupului: 1.600 pers./h; ca. 800 m length
• Artficial snow making witha lake with 120.000 m³
• 22.800 m / 67 ha skiruns
• corrections and widening of all existing pists
• new machines for grooming

Artificial Snow Making• Basic layer of artificial snow on 58 ha within
100 snow-making hours• 2.500 m³ water/ha and year• Artificial Lake on Ruia: 120.000 m³, water
from melting ( two refill – stations with pumps) and from the don’t used water of the drinking water asset of Poiana Brasov
• 3 pumps with 50 l/s and 50 bar (400 kW)• Water with gravitation pressure for the lower
parts of the pists about 100 l/s

Suggested system of Snow Making
• System of snow – making lances with a central compressor –station:– Advantage: the lances are situated along all pists (every 50 m)
and ski – runs (every 100 m); you don‘t have to transport it duringthe whole winter, you ca use it whenever the conditions are good
– Advantage: the lances were build up in Oct. and must not berelocated during the whole winter
– Drawback: the lances make not so much snow (max. 4l/s)We recommand: a system of lances for all ski-runs except on the wide pists
• System of snow – making propeller - machines:– Advantage : the propellor machines make a lot of snow (max. 12l/s)– Drawback: electricity in the field, expansive machines
We recommand: propellor machines on the wide pists (upper part of Subteleferic, Sulinar below Ruia, pists above Bottom station

Required Investments• Step 1:
– 2 Lifts and pists, 2 grooming machines 7,81 Mio €– Artificial Snow – making incl. Lake 10,00 Mio €– Electricity, other pists, parking, etc. 2,19 Mio €
• Sum step 1 20,0 Mio €
• Step 2:– 3 Lifts and pists, grooming machines 18,0 Mio €– Electricity, pists, snowmaking, parking... 7,5 Mio €
• Sum step 2 25,5 Mio €
Klenkhart & Partner Consulting 35
The investments include
• Power supply (medium voltage system, transformer stations)
• All lifts complete (delivery and assembly, implementation: poles, foundations, cable track, etc…)
• Ski run and ski trail construction in the area• All technical snow facilities incl. pump-stations• Ticket system• 5 Grooming machines• Safety equipment for pists• Construction of funpark, ski beginners area, etc.
Klenkhart & Partner Consulting 36
Recommendation forImplementation
• Complementing the winter season, various attractions to promote the winter and thesommer season should be developed;
• The result of the Cost-Benefit Analysis ispositive for the implementation of Step 1 (2 new lifts, pists, grooming machines) and realistic scenario (15% more skiers, switch to day tickets, imputed interest: Euribor + 2%)
• Development of infrastructure and snow-makingis of common interest (Municipality, EU, etc.)
• Therefore the implementation of Phase 1 isdefinitely recommended
Klenkhart & Partner Consulting 37
Recommendation forImplementation
• Investment of the Municipality will triggersignificant private investments (hotels, restaurants, services, etc.)
• Further flexible development of Step 2 depending on the reception of the potential markets and the highway from Bukarest;
• Implementation of these 2 Steps guaranteehigh standard of the Ski Area – comparablewith leading resorts in the Alps;
Klenkhart & Partner Consulting 38
Recommendation forImplementation
• Pist – corrections and pist - construction:Construction company with experience in „alpin -
constructions“ in steep slopes and in dynamiting• Building of the artificial lake:
The Construction company should have realized at least 2 or 3 such artificial lakes and should also have experience in dynamiting
• Building the cable and pipe- trenches, etc.:Local Construction company
