If you do not receive a notice by March 9, 2012, please contact the Assessment Division. If after receiving your assessment notice, you feel that your property is appraised at more than its full and true value as of January 1, 2012, or is not equitably assessed with like surrounding property, please contact the Assessment Division. If you wish to discuss the value of your property with an appraiser, please call (907) 745-9642, or visit the Assessment Division. Office hours are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. If you review the value with an appraiser and are dissatisfied, you have thirty days from the mailing of an assessment notice to file an appeal to the Board of Equalization. Appeal forms must be requested from the Assessment Division, first floor of the Borough Building, 350 E. Dahlia, Palmer, AK 99645, or online at www.matsugov.us. Appeals to the Board of Equalization must be filed no later than 5:30 PM, Friday, March 30. Hearings will be held in the borough administrative office building in Palmer, Alaska, during the months of April and May. Business Inventory is exempt from borough taxation to a limit of $250,000 in value, per Borough Code 3.15.035(c). Any business owner receiving a return must respond in order for this office to determine the appropriate exemption. All persons who own and/or have control of taxable business inventory within the borough are required by Alaska Statute 29.45.120 to file such a return with the Borough Assessor’s Office. The filing deadline is March 15, 2012. All returns postmarked or received after that date are subject to a fifteen percent (15%) penalty (MSB 3.15.130 & MSB 3.15.150). Failure to file a return could result in a fine of not more than $1000 and/or imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days. The completed return should indicate the exact location of the business property so that the proper mill rate may be applied. Please list the correct subdivision name, block & lot; or township, range, and section; or street address. That if you sell a vehicle in the State of Alaska, you as the seller must notify the State of Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles that the sale has taken place. Alaska Vehicle Titles have a tear off portion at the bottom of the title that must be filled out completely, signed and sent in. If you do not do this, YOU can be held legally liable for that vehicle I would also be advisable to write out a bill of sale for you records that include the name and address of the buyer and all pertinent information about the vehicle.

Alaska Vehicle Titles have a tear off portion at the bottom of the title that must be filled out completely, signed and sent in. If you do not do this, YOU can be held legally liable for that vehicle I would also be advisable to write out a bill of sale for you records that include the name and address of the buyer and all pertinent information about the vehicle.
