  • Description: Stationary for audio company Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used

illustrator to design the record and the needle. Initially i wanted to incorporate them together but I decided they looked better separate. This also gave me the idea to round the top and bottom of the business card to match the record shape. For the stationary I used the record design as the background and made it opaque to make it possible to have text over it.

Message: The message is to convey that filibuster audio is in touch with what the music and film community is looking for right now.

Audience: Musicians and Filmmakers. Top Thing Learned: How to layout shapes in

illustrator to design images. Color scheme and color names: Monochromatic.

  • Description: Three different logos for the same company

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used adobe illustrator to create these logos. The first logo I used the shape tool to create the door and the handle. I used the pen tool with a distort filter to create the hole in the door. For the second logo I kept it simple for a very professional logo. The third logo I used the shape tool to create pill shaped audio meters. Once I created one I copied the rest to create the design.

Message: These logos are for an audio company so the message needed to convey a hip but professional image

Audience: Musicians looking to record, or filmmakers looking for audio mixing.

Top Thing Learned: How to use illustrator Three Color Scheme and Color Names: Logo 1 Monochromatic Black

Logo 2 Split Complimentary Teal, Red and Orange Logo 3 Analogous Teal, Blue and Indigo Three sets of Title / Body Font Names & Categories: All three logos used the Poplar Std Black font for consistency. I used different sized to create contrast.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used Photoshop, Word and InDesign for this project. I started with taking pictures of the studio. After receiving critiques from some peers and my instructor I settled on this final design.

  • Description: A full color, full bleed event ad created in Microsoft Word.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I scanned the recording console image from the latest edition of Tape Op Magazine. I saved the image as a JPEG and imported it into Microsoft Word. I used word to match the background and font colors to the image. I then created the text and played around with different layouts and fonts. Once I settled on a design I had some class mates look it over. They provided some great advice and I made some minor changes. I had to print this quite a few times to get the layout just right for a full bleed.
