I-65 and Cherry Glen Rail Projects
Community owned real estate development is a key part of the Alliance’s four-year economic development strategy. The idea behind
the strategy is to have a more diverse set of product options for businesses looking to relocate or expand in Maury County. The two
initiatives that have come out of this effort is a plan to develop an industrial park along I-65 as well as bring rail to our current Cherry
Glen industrial park. Both projects would also involve the development of a speculative building on each site.
Currently the Alliance is investigating funding options for these projects, which includes a presentation to Maury County Government.

Local Machining and Fabrication Company Continues to Grow Amidst Recent Economic Downturn
Since its purchase in August 2009 by Tennessee native
James Phillips, BMC Metalworks, llC has experienced
steady business growth. In 2010, sales increased by 30%,
and in 2011 sales have increased by approximately 33%
through eleven periods. As a result of this growth, the
company has hired 15 new employees and added a 2nd
production shift.
“While our success can be attributed to many factors including the addition of technology, equipment updates,
company re-branding, and a refocus on customer needs and high quality services, it is our employees that
truly are the most precious asset,” Phillips emphasized. Since he assumed ownership of the local company,
Phillips has made a strong effort to attract the best employees in the industry through enriched compensation,
comprehensive benefit programs, and a focus on team and employee involvement.
BMC Metalworks, llC is a full service machining, fabrication, and field team services company serving a variety of industries.
Their machine division offers manual and CnC turning and milling, keyway cutting, drilling and horizontal boring. They also
provide repair services for many metal parts including shafts, flanges, valves, pins and gears. Their fabrication division offers
