I. Introduction Autoimmune conditions and other illnesses sometimes manifest as symbolic dis-eases where the symptoms seem to correlate directly with our life stories. Listen-ing carefully to the messages from the body may lead to the discovery of somatic metaphors that can be useful clues to understanding these mysterious maladies. Sometimes these understandings can lead to spontaneous healing and with that, an evolved and transformed life for the recipient. Symptoms can be addressed in a fashion similar to dream interpretation becoming symbols for guidance on the jour-ney toward integration and wholeness. Inner Awareness Method (IAM) can be used to address the body consciousness in the waking state and guide the individual to their authentic selves through the di-rect messages that pain or disease can bring. This creates a theory that evolves pain and disease from something that is to be feared, to something that is to be listened to carefully for it may be directing the individual toward one’s purpose in life. From this symbolic perspective, energy methods such as meridian tapping and IAM can be used to facilitate healing and transformation. Understanding symptoms as metaphors is an important step in the evolution of all individuals, as well as healthcare in general. Healthcare’s conventional methods promote the suppression of symptoms through the use of pharmaceuticals. This supports the belief that pain and disease are a problem to be “solved” instead of a conscious message from the body to be “evolved.” This evolution of pain and dis-ease from distraction to guide, benefits the patient’s life’s journey and eventually the evolution of the healthcare system’s expansion into fully embracing the im-portance of mind, body and spirit in the healing equation. This change in con-sciousness honors our symptoms as messengers from the unconscious about emo-tional imbalances or blocks at the root of the epidemic of chronic disease. Only by this paradigm shift will the system be transformed from shooting the messenger to following the guidance from the body. Today’s course will teach the basics of the Inner Awareness Method (IAM). Origi-nally designed as a hands on modality, it has progressed to a verbal guiding modal-ity that can be used on the phone. IAM draws on the consciousness of the body to guide the patient to receive the messages hidden in their pain or disease that, when fully embraced, release the pain and allow for healing to happen. What was once pain or disease becomes a point of transformation for the client to live more fully into their own authenticity for a whole and healthy life.

Symptoms will be explored using Chinese five element theory and other ap-proaches to somatic metaphors. Relevant Eastern and Western literature will be reviewed with illustration by clini-cal case examples. The consequences of conventional means of suppression will be considered with an exploration of the prices paid in terms of side effects. Ways to transform the emotions at the root of the symptoms will demonstrated through group and individual experiential sessions with meridian tapping and IAM. With Gratitude! Thank you for attending this course. We are so honored to present to you concepts and experiencing opening up health care to new (but possibly ancient) paradigms to healing. We ask you to send us your stories and keep this conversation going as we expand into the incredible nature of our bodies’ wisdom to heal through the very nature of its being here on this planet for the expansion of our spirits. II. Symbolic Diseases and Meridian Tapping EDANVIR Tapping derived from EFT, www.eftuniverse.com, www.emofree.com 7 Steps: Energize, Desensitize, Awfulize, Neutralize, Visualize, Internalize, Revitalize

Tapping Points Top of Head

Eyebrow Side of Eye Under Eye

Under Nose

Chin

Collarbone

Under Arm

Under Breast

Start with Self-Acceptance Statement to ENERGIZE emotional issue for tapping. Select short Reminder Phrase describing upsetting event, symptom, belief or feeling. Score Subjective Units of Distress (SUD) from 0 to 10 when saying Reminder Phrase. Rub Sore Spot between anterior upper ribs and repeat Self-Acceptance Statement 3 times. “Even though I have this (Reminder Phrase), I deeply and completely accept myself.” Do 4 Tapping Sequences using middle finger to tap 7 times on each acupoint. 1) Tap each point on left side while repeating Reminder Phrase to DESENSITIZE it. 2) Tap each point on right side and AWFULIZE about aspects of Reminder Phrase. 3) Tap each point on left side alternating negative and positive phrases to NEUTRALIZE. 4) Tap each point on the right side using all positive phrases and VISUALIZE your goals. INTERNALIZE healing by hyperventilating with eyes closed until inwardly focused.

REVITALIZE yourself by shaking your arms and legs until the energy dissipates. Rescore SUD afterwards by repeating original Reminder Phrase. Repeat until 0 SUD, laugh or get bored, and then tap again for different aspects of issue. Be persistent, be specific, and add more emotionally charged language to your phrases. Use Emphatic EDANVIR for faster results by tapping when screaming or crying. III. Metaphorical imagery and EDANVIR Tapping group exercise

Transforming Symptoms with Metaphorical Imagery

1) Choose a persistent symptom to work on. List two physical facts about the symp-

tom and then list two emotional feelings related to the situation:

2) Create a metaphor by completing the following sentence with the first symbolic

phrase or image that pops into your head, Having this symptom for me is like:

3) Think about your goal for healing this symptom. List two physical facts and two

related emotional feelings that will be true when you are healed:
