DOH-Gulf celebrated Na�onal Nurses Week in May

In our schools, our clinics, our health fairs, and our emergency responses, public health nurses bring skilled,

CHALLENGE

BEGINS IN JUNE!

Want to join a community fitness challenge? Now is Your chance!

FITNESS CHALLENGE INFO:

- 12 Week Weight Loss/Fitness Challenge (June 1- August 21, 2015)

- The cost is $15 per par�cipant.

- 1st place winner will take home 50% of par�cipant pot, 2nd place-30%, 3rd place-20%.

- Results are based on percentage of weight loss so that it is fair for all!

- There will be a weigh-in every 3 weeks to keep everyone mo�vated.

- Workout on your own or coordinate with a group.

Na�onal Women’s Health Week is an observance led by the U.S.

Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s

Health. The goal is to empower women to make their health a priori-

ty. The week also serves as a �me to help women understand what

steps they can take to improve their health.

What steps can I take for be@er health?

To improve your physical and mental health, you can:

Visit a doctor or nurse to receive regular checkups and preven�ve

screenings.

Get ac�ve.

Eat healthy.

Pay a:en�on to mental health, including geBng enough sleep and managing stress.

Avoid unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking, tex�ng while driving, and not wearing a seatbelt or bicycle helmet.

Find out what addi�onal steps you should take based on your age.
