But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ. Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. ~ Phil. 3:7-8, 12-14 That’s passion. The apostle Paul was willing to forget his great past in order to pursue and know Christ. He was willing to give up everything for the sake of Christ. If this isn’t passion, I don’t know what is! What’s your passion? What’s the thing that captures your heart and interest most of all? All of us have our passions in life whether we want to admit it or not. Sports, hobbies, cars, shopping, decorating, gardening, TV, eating (food), movies, hunting, fishing, gardening, golfing, baseball, etc. Preaching Christ is what the early church had a passion for. They went everywhere preaching the Word. And most did it with the right attitude: humbly, gently, respectfully, and lovingly. Easter is over, but it’s not over. It’s time to preach Christ in a loving and humble way. God wants us to love all people the best we can. The attractive and unattractive, the compassionate and the uncompassionate, the sensitive and the insensitive, the spiritual and the non-spiritual. Christ didn’t die on the cross for good people only; He died for everyone - the good, the bad, and the ugly. But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for

Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of

the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered

the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain

Christ.

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I

press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also

laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have

apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are

behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I

press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in

Christ Jesus. ~ Phil. 3:7-8, 12-14

That’s passion. The apostle Paul was willing to forget his great

past in order to pursue and know Christ. He was willing to

give up everything for the sake of Christ. If this isn’t passion,

I don’t know what is!

What’s your passion? What’s the thing that captures your

heart and interest most of all? All of us have our passions in

life whether we want to admit it or not. Sports, hobbies, cars,

shopping, decorating, gardening, TV, eating (food), movies,

hunting, fishing, gardening, golfing, baseball, etc.

Preaching Christ is what the early church had a passion for.

They went everywhere preaching the Word. And most did it

with the right attitude: humbly, gently, respectfully, and

lovingly.

Easter is over, but it’s not over. It’s time to preach Christ in a

loving and humble way. God wants us to love all people the

best we can. The attractive and unattractive, the

compassionate and the uncompassionate, the sensitive and

the insensitive, the spiritual and the non-spiritual. Christ didn’t

die on the cross for good people only; He died for everyone -

the good, the bad, and the ugly.

A lady by the name of Ann Weems wrote: "It was a family treasure. That golden

vase, the priceless vase that had belonged to my great-grandmother and my

grandmother and now to my mother. The vase sat on the mantle, out of reach of

little fingers. However, I managed to reach it. I climbed to reach it and I broke it. I

broke the family treasure. Then I began to cry in loud sobs that brought my mother

running. I could hardly get it out. “I broke the vase,” I said. “I broke the treasure.”

A look of relief came over my mother’s face and she said, “Oh, I thought that you

had been hurt.” She hugged me and made it very clear that I was her priceless

treasure."

All people are God’s priceless treasure. Yes, there is brokenness, and our Lord

wants to help us put the pieces back together again. But, we have to give him all

the pieces. Most just need to know they are a treasure. They live in their

brokenness believing there is no way out.

Jesus gave us the example of love. He demonstrated love to the blind, the lame,

the infirm, the dirty, the leprous, the outcast, the adulterous, the greedy, etc. Their

lives were changed forever. Most turned their lives around. Let’s catch the passion.

Prayer:

O Lord, help us to catch a passion for others. Yes, some will have problems; yes,

there could be loads of baggage; and, yes, we may get our hands dirty. Help us to

look past these things and love them as You do. Amen.

The Door Village United Methodist

Women meet the 3rd Monday of each month. The UMW would like to

thank EVERYONE for your amazing

help in making the April Beef & Noodle dinner a success! It was truly

a team effort, and what an amazing

team of cheerful volunteers! Thank you! Thank you also to Jan Baumer for

sharing a very inspiring Easter message with us at our April meeting! All women are welcome to join us for

our May meeting which will be on

Monday, May 20 at 7 pm. We meet in

the church parlor. This month, Sue

Kaiser will be presenting a program about the recent mission trip to

Kentucky she participated in along

with Bonnie Olson and Pastor Bob. Diane Plotner and Jan Martin will be

providing refreshments. We are

looking forward to a carry in dinner in June and then will break for summer. We can't wait to see you there!

Backpack Food Program Thank you to everyone

who donated food for

our

program this school year.

Currently, we have

enough donated food

to finish out the school

year. We will continue

to send home bags of food in children’s

backpacks until summer break. You are

welcome to pick up foods if you wish to

contribute toward our fall supplies but,

basically, we do not need food donated

for the backpack program until we

resume in August. Thank you to everyone

for your support of this wonderful ministry.

You have shared Christ’s love by feeding

the hungry and brightened the lives of

many families in our area.
