The Ascension of the Lord MT 28:16-20
The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have com-manded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
REFLECTION Today we recall Christ’s ascension to his Father in heaven. Before he left, he promised his disciples that he would be with them always. Indeed, the Lord is with us when we gather in his name, as we listen to the word of God, and as the bread and wine are consecrated. Let us celebrate the assurance that Christ is with us always, now and until the end of time.

FAITH FORMATION - GOF, RE, CLOW As you are well aware, our parish generations of faith (GOF) and religious education (RE) programs would have officially ended in April (GOF) and this past week in May (RE). These have been challenging days for all of us. None of us could have imagined these last two months. We are all trying to stay safe even as we begin to open up activity, hopeful that we will see each other soon and continue in our common journey of faith with the parish community. We understand that you are still busy with traditional schoolwork, even as you try to keep faith formation going in your home. We could not let the year close without saying THANK YOU. We especially want to thank all parents/guardians for your support and encouragement on your child’s faith journey—all that you do to foster the faith of your children. Though our classes/sessions were cut short from the pandemic, every year brings its own blessings and rewards, for children and families and for our parish religious education programs and those who serve in it. We thank our children and teens who participated in our programs. We need you! You inspire us with your enthusiasm and challenge us to grow in our love and faith and renew our commitment to follow Jesus. For those who eagerly await celebrating First Communion and Confirmation, we have not forgotten you and soon will schedule these celebrations when we have more information and can safely gather again as church. We also want to take this opportunity to thank our catechists, aides and volunteers. In our religious education program: Tessy Antony, Jeanette Amico, Dana Barrett, Evelyn Bennett, Katie Black, Tina Cobb, Christine Crane, Yvonne Daniel, Robin Davis, Mary Ellen Erdie, Sheyla Gramojo, Lisa Grieco, Yury Herrera, Elaine Hogan, Baibitha Joy, Theresa Melendez, Margueritte Nebia, Frank Pecht, Erin Petura, Jennifer Sost, Tony Staltari, Pat Staltari, Jeff Verga, and Michelle Zimmaro. In our CLOW (Children's Liturgy of the Word) program at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday mass: Ray Bucchi and the parent leaders who assist in the activities. In our generations of faith program: Frank and Ginny Soltis, Jim Scott, Chris Small, Fred Vasapolli, Frank Golazeski, Donna Guarraggi, Helene Vitella, Peggy Sterns, Sue Rodriguez, Angela Parascando, Pat Adams, Amy Thomas, Gabrielle Raccosta, Maryann Raccosta, Brian McCord, Valerie Tomaszewski and the families who assisted with set up, clean up, and other necessary tasks. Without all of them, our programs would not be possible. With their constant attention and dedication, our program continues to be very fruitful. We cannot thank them enough for their service. Let us all continue to remember one another in prayer, for the safety and health of all. God’s Peace,
Gary Maccaroni

“New Stimulus Package Approved by Congress”
Section 2204. Allowance of partial above the line deduction for charitable contributions. The provision encourages
Americans to contribute to churches and charitable organizations in 2020 by permitting them to deduct up to $300 of
cash contributions, whether they itemize their deductions or not.
Section 2205. Modification of limitations on charitable contributions during 2020. The provision increases the limita-
tions on deductions for charitable contributions by individuals who itemize, as well as corporations. For individuals, the
50 percent of adjusted gross income limitation is suspended for 2020. For corporations, the 10 percent limitation is
increased to 25 percent of taxable income. This provision also increases the limitation on deductions for contributions
of food inventory from 15 percent to 25 percent.
A young man was surprised to find his sick and elderly grandfather planting a small peach tree in his backyard. When
the young man asked his grandfather why he was planting the tree, the old man replied, “Son, all my life I have
eaten the fruit from trees that other people have planted. I figure I have an obligation to make
sure there is some fruit around for others to enjoy.”
Four Ways to Leave A Legacy
Did you know there are four easy ways for you to remember your parish in your will?
1. A Specific Bequest – You can designate a certain amount of cash or specific assets to the parish.
2. A Residual Bequest – You can plan for the parish to receive all or a portion of your estate after other specific
bequests have been distributed.
3. A Percentage Bequest – You can designate a certain percentage of the estate to go to the parish.
4. A Contingent Bequest – You can make the parish the recipient of a bequest if others named in your will are not
living at the time of your death.
No matter how you decide to remember your parish, a gift from your will accomplishes several key benefits.
• It sends a strong message to your heirs that the Church played an important role in your life.
• It guarantees that your generosity to the Church will be continued even after you are gone.
• It provides important assistance to our parish.
It may even provide tax benefits for your heirs.
Talk to your lawyer or financial counselor today about the best way for you.
