Dr. Fred Luter, president of the SBC, answered that question: 'First of all, I think it's a great opportunity for us to come together as Southern Baptists. We're in different cities, different states, different regions, so it's like a family reunion. All of us like family reunions! And it's an opportunity for us to come together and hear the great reports of what's happening through all of our SBC entitites-- see what's going on with NAMB, see what's going on with IMB, see what's going on with LifeWay, hear what's going on at our seminaries. Getting these reports is important. We are supporting these places with our Cooperative Program monies. I don't know about you, but I like to know how my money is being spent. You're giving money to these offerings; this is what's happening in those offferings, this is what's being done. It's a good opportunity to hear and bring the reports back to your churches. But it also gives us a chance to come together and worship together as a body of Christ known as the Southern Baptist Convention. So, Iook at it as a great family reunion and an opportunity to come and see what's going on in your Convention and how you can support it. But most of all, you can be a part of it!' Psalm 85:6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 2013 Southern Bap1st Conven1on Houston, Texas Annual Mee1ng June 11>12 Pastor’s Conference June 9>10

VBS Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of

fearfulness, but one of power, love and sound judgment”

Vacation Bible School

Remember, Vacation Bible School is the greatest evangelical tool that the church has today. There

are more individuals reached with the Gospel during during a Vacation Bible School, than

revivals! If your church is interested in having a VBS and don’t know where to start or need help,

contact the Associational Office.
