Zoom and Google Classroom– We certainly can’t say that we haven’t learned anything

new in the over the past seven weeks. In addition to our adjusted and schedules and

lessons, all of our students have learned the skills involved in conquering video

classroom and virtual assignments. While face to face learning is our preference, we

know that this experience is teaching each of our students and educators to be more

well-rounded, adaptive and resilient. Nothing is going to keep us from teaching and

learning and we are proud of all that has been accomplished.

STEM & Projects - We have been extremely impressed by all of the projects that have

been designed and showcased by our students. From Native American Habitats and

Volcanoes to STEM marble race challenges and Jell-O earthquake simulations, we

can’t believe the creativity we are seeing. We love viewing the pictures and videos

shared of the students with their projects. So much pride radiating from each of them.

Keep up the good work AGS!

Book Fair - We are pleased to announce that the Scholastic Book Fair is on. We invite

you to shop our Spring Book Fair online in your own home from May 1st—May 14th.

Even though school is closed, we still want to make the Book Fair available for our entire

school community. This will help the students with AR and summer reading too. Please

take advantage of the free shipping on book orders over $25. (non-book orders won’t

add to the $25 requirement). To order, visit: https://archangelgabrielpgh.org/.

Teacher Appreciation - Every year we take the opportunity for one full week

to show our appreciation to our loving and giving teachers. They are so

special, give of themselves and go above and beyond every single day. We

know that some of you in the past have wanted to give gift cards to the

teachers and other treats. If this is still your desire, you could purchase a

virtual card through SCRIP’s PrestoPay system and email teachers the gift card.

Weekly Virtual Mass - We have been pleased to see so many familiar families joining

the virtual mass that has been said every Sunday through Archangel Gabriel Parish at

10:00 A.M. If you and your family are interested in attending you can find the

information at https://archangelgabrielparish.org/ Even though we are not beside one

another, we love to be able to celebrate together.

Volunteering - We have seen so many examples of people doing God’s will over this difficult time.

Many families have volunteered with the parish to check in on the elderly or shop for groceries and

medication for those who are in need. Many have helped the citizens in need in their local

communities and others are essential workers. We have seen sidewalk chalk designs and window art

to help brighten a neighbors day and have heard many generous and kind words being said to one

another. We know that in times that cause pain and struggle we need to dig deep and

find God’s love and use his strength. We are inspired by each and every one of you and

want to make sure you know how grateful we are.

Knight-A-Thon - We are extremely pleased by the progress that the Knight-A-

Thon has made this year. We have raised over $21,000 towards our

fundraising goal for the 2019-2020 school year and we want to celebrate.

Look for some announcements of a classroom celebrations coming up as

we plan to hold our Dance-A-Thon on Thursday, May 7th. If you still have any

donations to turn in, please send them in to the school.

Eighth Grade Recognition - We are extremely proud of our First Graduating Class of Archangel

Gabriel Catholic School. They have risen to become the leaders and role models in the school

and are paving the way for each following grade. We are excited to showcase them by sharing

their favorite memories, their clubs and activities, advice to future knights and future plans.

Please tune in to our AGS page on Facebook as we feature a new eighth grader each day.

Knights Got Talent - As we continue to come up with alternative ways to carry out our typical

activities and events throughout the year, our talent show was brought up. Although it is no

substitution for our traditional talent show, we are currently planning a virtual talent show.

Your child can creatively perform their talent, video it, and send it in. The video will be put

together with other talent numbers and the full video will be sent to our AGS families. All acts

must be appropriate, a two minute maximum, acts can be solo, with members of your family or

virtually with friends or classmates. Be creative! The video will be shared with Archangel

Gabriel Catholic School families using a private password protected video link. Please send

videos to [email protected] no later than Friday, May 15th. For larger files you may use

Dropbox or Google Drive as options.

Cheerleaders Videos - If you have not yet seen the cheerleader shoe pass video on Facebook, you have got

to check them out. Our Varsity and Junior Varsity squads showcased some talent and spirit during these

creative transformation videos. We are absolutely loving all of the school spirit that we are seeing for AGS!

Registration - We are currently accepting registrations and re-registrations for our 2020-2021 school

year. Our time physically in the school ended a lot sooner than expected and we know not everyone

had a chance to turn their packet in. Please download our “Current Family Re-Registration Packet” on

our website at: https://archangelgabrielpgh.org/k-8 . It is extremely important that we plan accurately

for the number classrooms, staff and resources needed for our next school year so please help us by

turning in your packets. They can be emailed or mailed in to our school office. Your registration fee can

also be mailed in. Also know that you are our best ambassador for the school. Please help us to recruit

families who may be looking for a quality Catholic education. If you have any registration questions or

needs, please email [email protected].

Video Messages from Mrs. Militzer—Thank you so much for sharing the weekly video message with your

children. We hope you have enjoyed them so far. It has been a pleasure talking to you all. While we wish

that all messages could be in person, until they can, we will keep sending messages! We look forward

to finishing up the year with some special events and fun!

SCRIP - YES, we are still offering fundraising credit and financial support for our school

with our SCRIP fundraiser. We have many virtual cards for restaurants who offer take out,

grocery stores and more including: Grubhub, Walmart, Target, Amazon. You can purchase

the cards by using a PrestoPay account. Please consider using virtual gift cards as gifts

and family members may even want to purchase cards too to support the school. We are

also now offering delivery of physical Giant Eagle gift cards ($100 minimum). See your

OptionC email as information went out this week. Please email

[email protected] with any questions.

Fundraising and Volunteer Hours - We will be getting in touch with families with any unresolved volunteer or fundraiser

hour issues for the 2019-2020 school year. We ask that all event chairs please finalize the hours for their volunteers as

soon as possible and make sure to enter them into Goal Tracker.

Festival— SAVE THE DATE! As of now, our annual festival is still scheduled as planned. The Archangel

Gabriel Festival dates are July 30, 31 and August 1. We are currently looking for a volunteer to chair the

White Elephant Sale. This event has always been one of our major fundraisers and we are crossing our

fingers that we are able to hold it on time this summer to not only raise money for our school but to

celebrate as an AGS community. If you would like to join our team in planning the festival, please

contact Heather Murray - [email protected]. The festival is also a wonderful way to get a jump on

your volunteer hours for the school year.
